He saw 3 bars of gold setting on a pallet, each bar weighing 5 pounds. The rest of the huge vault was empty, not even any dust or cobwebs. Dave asked the officer where the rest of the gold is. The officer said it had been moved out over the last several years. Dave asked why there were 3 bars left and was told that way the officials could truthfully say there was gold in Fort Knox.

Dave want to see the log books and where the gold went. Again the officer said no, that Dave was not in the group. Dave nodded at York who grabbed the officer and hauled him outside, saying that the officer would talk when he and his men were done questioning him. The officer's face paled.

Dave looked at te computer log in the vault but it was encrypted and all he could see were dates of removal. He made a call to his IT team and they were there in an hour with their computers. It took them 2 hours to hack the computer but all the info was now visible. It showed gold movement every month for the last 5 years. It was being shipped to certain, well known extremely rich people. The IT team started working on finding out where the missing gold was now. York came in and said the officer had talked and he had important info.

The officer had said it was going to certain rich people in the nation that were planning to take over, destroy most of the citizens and then rule over the rest like they were chattel. Where the gold went matched up with what the IT team found. Dave started making plans.

He sat down with York and Jones about attacking these people and getting the gold back. It seems that a lot of the gold was setting in obscure small warehouses. All were within a 100 mile radius of DC, there were 10 locations. Dave was going to use 200 soldiers and 2 Blackhawk helicopters at each warehouse. 4 of 18 wheeler flatbeds with fork trucks would go along to each warehouse. 24 hours later the troops were all in place at the warehouses and the Blackhawks were 10 miles out so as not to alert the warehouses.

The troops watched the seconds tick down to start time. The Bradleys zoomed into the warehouses with the trailers waiting for a call. The Blackhawks were inbound and be there shortly. York was yelling over the comms – GO GO GO!

The troops went in all the doors, several peeling of to open the dock doors. They were met by enemy troops – Chinese, about 50 of them. AK74 and M16 were firing off. Red and green tracers criss crossing the warehouse. The Chinese had a machine gun nest set up and it was hammering rounds out. York and 2 Marines worked their way closer and lobbed grebades which silenced the gun. A Chinese soldier could be seen yelling into a radio. A minute later a radio squawked from a Blackhawk with the news that several cargo vans were inbound at a high rate of speed with Chinese drivers. Rockets away and vans were done. A few bodies thrown out but no longer a threat.

Inside the warehouse the battle was winding down with just stray shots. The US troops had 10 wounded and 2 dead while the Chinese troop were all dead. 3 man teams spread out to search the warehouse while the rest started getting ready to load pallets of gold.

Not much paperwork was found and 1 radio. In a back area of the warehouse, a team could hear yelling. The team found 20 young women shackled to a long chain. They were scantily clad. They said they had been here for months serving the Chinese troops. 10 pallets of gold were loaded on the trailers as helicopters were bringing in resupply for the US troops.

The gold was taken to Fort Knox, each warehouse had been about the same. Finally all the gold was stored and trusted soldiers guarding it now.

At the next Dave's Dialogue, he spoke about getting the gold back. He spoke of throwing out all Executive Orders as they were illegal. He said this nation was a Limited Constitutional Republic annd we were returning to it. He explained that the Republic was based upon set, unchanging God's laws whereas a democracy was mob rule and was a bad thing.

In a democracy, 51 of 100 people could vote for all persons named Dave to be killed and it was now legal to do, but under a Republic, murder was always illegal no matter how many people voted to do it.

Also Dave said no longer would proposed bills / laws have multiple other laws attached to it. And no not allowing the congressmen to read it before voting on it. And if that law was voted down, no starting that proposed law again the next day, it was done.

Dave said they would be pulling our military out of all countries and bring them home. He talked of making products here again and making “made in America with pride” a household slogan again. He urged people to start their own business and if officials tried to slap “red tape” on it to impede them, it was time to boot officials out.

Dave's popularity as President was 99% approval rating.

18 months into his term and things were really starting to turn. He would make a trip back home every few weeks to check on things. His store was doing good, crops were fine and livestock good. Granny was doing fine but missing everyone but since going to DC, Mae had only gone back home to visit just once. She had really taken to the big city life and the social life. Most people near Granny had started their own business and were making a living. Dave enjoyed the Appalachia cooking and wasn't into the high society foods that Mae now enjoyed.

Other countries were now coming back and re opening their embassies, except for China. Dave had forbid them to reopen. He would talk with them on the phone but no presence allowed.

The bomb crater that had been in the front yard of the once again White House, he had made into a pond and stocked it with fish. The lawn he had now planted with a garden and had fruit trees around the perimeter. Lian and Li tended the White House garden and Dave often was found working it too. Someone would show up to talk with President Dave and would be escorted to him in the garden all covered in dirt and sweat.

Dave even had several pigs and some chickens located in the back for his bacon and eggs. Everything was good until 1 evening when he, Mae and Mike were sitting at supper after dark. There was a commotion of a thud in the hallway outside their dining room.

Dave heard the thud as he was taking a bite of his supper. He looked up in time to see the door open and a bunch of black clad figures coming through the door. Quickly he overturned the table yelling for Mae to grab Mike and get down behind the table. Dave grabbed his FAL and magazine pouch as he got behind the table. Mae had quit carrying her M16 a long time ago.

Lian and LI had been serving the meal and Dave heard them joining the battle. He peeked around the overturned table to see both of them engaged with the enemy in martial arts moves. He pulled his head back just in time as a line of AK74 .22 caliber bullets stitched its way across the kevlar plated table protecting him and his family.

Using his right hand he cycled the action of his FAL, chambering a 7.62x51 FMJ. Setting the selector switch to semi auto mode, he transferred his right hand grip to the pistol grip while supporting the FAL with the stub of his left arm. Just in time to fire a round into the black clad figure coming around the end of the table.

He could hear shots from Lian and Li's M16s along with other gunshots throughout the White House. Leaning around the table, he snapped a shot at another enemy and saw him go down. Then 2 more quick shots at 2 more enemy coming through the door. 1 went down and didn't move, the 2nd went down and was withering on the floor. Lian put a round into the head and that ended it. York, Jones and 20 soldiers burst through the door, firing at the last of the enemy and then surrounded Dave and his family as they were escorted to the saferoom.

Dave was uninjuried, Mae was shook up and Mike was screaming his head off. Lian had a bullet crease along his chest and Li had a knife slash across her upper arm.

Dave was antsy at being out of the fight but knew York and Jones were just doing their duties. He could hear radio reported as the battle raged another 15 minutes but wasn't allowed out for another 2 hours as the place was checked out and secured.

Dead black clad bodies were lined up on the ground, 100 of them. Jones pulled a black mask off a head to reveal a Chinese person. All of them were Chinese ninja elite soldiers. It seems they had swarmed across the area, taking out guards. Some paperwork was found on 1 pf the bodies detailing a plan by the 5 rich people that had stolen the US gold. The plan was Dave to be killed and they would take over again.

Going inside, Dave had his people plot locarions and 30 minutes later, flights of fully armed B52s were in the air with A10 escorts. Shortly after that at 5 different locations, 5 extremely rich people were sitting at their dining tables with glasses of wine, already celebrating their victory, when they heard loud rumblings.

At each location, a bunker buster bomb came crashing through the roof and exploded. Craters 100 yards in diameter and 200 feet deep were made. A10s made runs on the areas but nothing was left alive. As spoils of war, Dave confiscated all their wealth from the banks and puut it all in the US treasury.

Dave announced to all the ambassadors that no longer would they have diplomatic immunity for any crimes they committed on US soil. Withing 3 hours, 4 ambassadors left the country. Their governments never replaced them and ended up closing the embassies. The US was once again fast becoming a strong country. Dave had stopped illegal immigration, people had to apply to immigrate the proper way. People with needed or useful skills were vetted before entrance. It was made clear to them that there was no freebies, they would work for their livelihood. It was made clear that dual citizenship was not allowed, you became a US citizen. You learned English and spoke English. No living under the old country laws they came from, it was US laws. They were no longer white – Americans, nor black – Americans, nor mexican – Americans, nor italian – Americans, everyone was an American.

A few immigrants tried violating this but were quickly deported and banned from ever entering the country again.

Dave had served 3 of his 4 year term as President. He announced that he would not run for a 2nd term. He suggested to the people that they pass a law limiting all officials to just 1 term so as to prevent corruption. He also suggested doing away with political parties and just vote for the best person. Mae had gotten quite used to the DC society life as the First Lady and she tried very hard to change Dave's mind about only 1 term in office. Dave wouldn't budge. She tried being real sweet to him, when that didn't work, she gave him the cold shoulder . But Dave was firm, he believed 1 term was best and he hated the big city life.

I was thinking the same thing when Dave first got elected.  Perhaps Granny will set her straight.  You just know those old granny ladies don't take any guff from anybody.

I can't opem my file for the story.

I use Open Office as my word document.

I just used it about 2 hours ago and it worked fine, now Open Office will not open. It tries with a spinning circle for 2 seconds and then quits.

Hope that you get it figured out.  You have too many hours invested in this story for something like this to come along.

Computers. Can't live with them, can't live without them

Over the last 3 years, Dave had his IT team working on the computer chips in military systems and missiles. His It team had just told him that they had finished and all the backdoors into the computer chips had been eliminated. Dave had never understood how the previous officials had bought critical components from our enemies and expect it to work.

Dave had planted his garden and it was off tp a good start. It would be his last one here as his term would end in December. He made a 2 week trip back to Appalachia. The fields on the farm have been planted with Trucker's Favorite field corn and other fields are planted in crops to sell. His store is doing great, even buying products from local families making them and then reselling them through the store. And Granny was making some of his favorite meals to eat – pintos beans with bacon chunks, turnip greens, red beets, hog jowls and homemade cornbread smothering in honey. YUM!

Dave spent his time just relaxing, hikes through the woods and talking with locals. He hated having to go back to DC but Mae and Mike were there plus he had to finish out his term as President.

Getting back to DC, he walked into his office and saw Lian standing there and Li on her knees next to him. She was sobbing and was repeating over and over that she was so sorry.

We will speak well of you for the rest of our days.  Seriously if you can't find a fix we have had good luck with the Geek Squad.  We bought a lap top and got a free year of their service.  With both of us being older than dirt they are valued members of our clan.
