Food run for this week. Not packed, had bigger bottles of hand sanitizer, Zinc in the Vitamin aisle, Hamburger was even on sale, actually a lot of sales going on. Not sure what to make of that, even the wifiy's Mountain Dew was almost two bucks off. The local traffic was heavier then in past weeks too.

Another fine weekend in Chicago. 39 shootings with 9 fatal. I guess they are not social distancing very well.

Did you see that Dayton, Ohio now has an ordinance that people can't wear masks while committing crimes?
Probably from the same group of idiots that think criminals will obey gun laws...

It's not about the guns - but The Powers That Be won't admit that destroying families and family values leads to people not caring what happens to anyone other than ME.

It seems everyone but the Democraps, liberals and other stupid people have figured out that the guns don't randomly shoot people - it requires a semi-human finger to pull the trigger...
Criminals don't obey laws about drugs, theft, etc, etc so why do these stupid people expect those same criminals to obey laws about guns? It seems some people are not intelligent enough to be allowed to reproduce.

The hypocrisy is in the fact that they won't admit that passin' laws won't have any effect on the problem, otherwise they'd outlaw corona virus in blue states/cities and live happily ever after.

That happens when you make it difficult to impossible for law-abiding people to be armed to protect themselves. The store owner armed with a machete would likely not have been touched had his back been to the wall and his hands holding a shotgun with 8 rounds of buck shot. One yell of "Leave or die!" before you start shooting. Hard to miss at 15 feet and the damage will take the "protest" out of most criminals. First shot on the pavement to prove 1) it's loaded, 2) you WILL shoot and 3) the buck shot ricochets up and spreads out to take several of them down but not likely to be deadly. The next three shots at gut level and spaced evenly across the leaders. May not need the other four shots but reload while the criminals regroup. Maybe alternate slugs and buck?
If it's a liquor store, have someone on the roof making Molotov cocktails out of small bottles of Everclear. Then you can say "But Officer, we were just giving them bottles of free booze!" That sounds like an event for a future story ;-)

Made a quick trip to town today when I got off work. Was gonna stop at the auto club to pay registration on a couple of vehicles plus Momma's bike. Just drove into the parking lot and right back out. Around 100F and, due to "social distancing" restrictions there must've been 15-20 people lined up awaitin' their turn to enter. Couple of old folks even had lawn chairs. Forget that. Stopped by a thrift store and scored a handheld dictionary/Roget's Thesaurus that seems to only need a pair of batteries. Even if it don't work I'm only out 99 cents. If I can get it to work it'll give me a portable reference tool that's light weight and not reliant on the interwebs. Hit the favorite Mexican restaurant for to go orders for my dearly beloved, got a couple of things at the grocery store, filled the gas tank and headed home. Not even half the folks I saw were masked.

Out to Lowe's to pick up an order (core aerator - cheaper to buy at $155 than to pay the lawn service this year and next). Their employees were masked but less than half the customers.
I had planned to use the aerator tomorrow - even had the window A/C running in the garage to have a place to work tonight - but missing parts that I don't have in the junkbox (split plastic bushing to fit the axle and not something I'm likely to find at Lowe's or HD) mean I just filled out the online "missing parts" form and it'll be a week or so before I can finish assembly. They also mixed parts and instructions from the previous version 45-0518 and the current version 45-05182 and the instructions have you putting bolts and nuts in place just because there's a hole - they don't hold anything together - and the places where the tongue is held to the frame they actually need those bolts and nuts. I'll fix that tomorrow - my arthritic hands are hurting too much to go undo what I did earlier following the instructions so it can wait until tomorrow and I did make a note on the instructions. I don't deal well with stupid and this assembly is approaching stupid on a large scale.
This is one of several things I'm doing before seeding several areas that the lawn service just can't keep the grass growing in. That service is suspended at least until September. If my efforts work better than theirs, then it may be suspended permanently. It's beginning to look like they can only fix problems that respond to a sprayer or a spreader and not all of those.

Just saw an ad from a car company offering 0% financing. So what, you ask?
While the loan period is only 36 months, it's significant that the car is Mercedes.
Guess things are really bad for new car sales...

You know that the .gov is printing money as fast as they can when the ATM delivers a stack of $20s that have sequential serial numbers and still smell of fresh ink.

It's only been a year or two since my bank's ATM in the nearest city quit dispensing fives. Now it seems to puke out nothing but twenties. Haven't noticed 'em bein' new like you're seein'.

It's only been a year or two since my bank's ATM in the nearest city quit dispensing fives. Now it seems to puke out nothing but twenties. Haven't noticed 'em bein' new like you're seein'. Which bills the ATM stocks probably depends on the most common withdrawals. If people want $25, the ATM must provide $5s in the mix (or $1s and $2s ;-) If the most common withdrawals are $100 and up, then $20s require the least space in the machine for a given total of $$$$$ stored. I'm likely to withdraw $200, offer the better half whatever cash she thinks she'll need in the immediate future and then carry less than $100 unless traveling (both vehicles have good places to stash more) or I'm specifically going out to buy something for cash (used lawn equipment or used solar panels, for example). Those type purchases are good reasons to have a few $$ put back in case the bank's nearest ATM (~2 miles) is down. I did experience the "dead" ATM more than once back in the days of being a working grunt and needing parking money for Monday but the nearest ATM screen had a Windows error message on Sunday evening :-( At least we were in an incorporated area then and it was only a mile or so to the next ATM...

Well this is a number I hope never happens again. On May 31 Chicago had 18 murders, add in 29th and 30th for 7 more. Another group say 17 for the weekend so they must have left out Chicago in their survey, but they did say that a good number were African American. Bad news all around.
