As some of you noticed, I recently moved to a different state. Please keep in mind that very few people were informed of the actual address to which I moved. I did not even name the state on this site. I did inform the bank where I opened a new account because I needed a bank that was convenient in my new location and federal banking regulations required that I provide an address for that account to be established. I also informed the company insuring my car in the new state where I reside and my new employer of my new address. I have not yet moved the registration of my car or notified any state of a change of address for my drivers license. That is on my list of "to do's" for this week. I did provide my address to the cable company which is now supplying my internet access. Other than that I only gave my new address to a few very close family members, of course my sweetie, and the secretary of the congregation where I now worship along with the secretary of the congregation where I was worshiping before I moved. I have not even filled out a change of address card with the post office where I was previously receiving mail. Finally, I moved into a rental property paying the rent in cash to a landlord who is providing all utilities without my name being given to any of the utility companies or water department.
Today exactly two weeks and six days after I moved myself to this new address I received a letter accurately addressed to me from the U.S. Department of Human Services explaining they were providing me with a new Medicare Card, because, “Medicare is required by law to take Social Security Numbers off of Medicare Cards. This will keep your personal information more secure and protect your identity.”
Right. I am so relieved that SOMEONE is being so DILIGENT about securing my personal information and protecting my privacy.
