The bird flying through the kitchen and almost hitting my head some months ago I could at least explain - the basement's garage door had been open for a while as things were moved in and out. We usually call it a boat door because that area isn't adequately sealed from the rest of the house to be called a garage. The bird found his way to the stairway and came up to the main level - probably following light. Odd visitor but entry explained. I opened and closed doors to make a path to daylight and the bird went back outside.
Late last night I was in the recliner reading and noticed motion at the edge of my vision - something small moving on the carpet. First thought was "another Palmetto bug" but a closer look told me it wasn't the right color. And then it hopped. A little frog, about the of my thumb from knuckle to nail. Had he stayed in place I might have been able to pick him up and toss him out in the rain. However, he moved into little spaces where my hand wouldn't fit - such as the gap between the piano and the wall. With nothing else small enough to fit back there, I used the hose of the small wet/dry vac to collect him. Not the safest method for Mr. Frog but better than having my wife scream if she stepped on him in the morning :-(
The entrances to this level are all one or more 5" or 6" steps up from ground level - from chasing him through the room, all the steps are higher than this frog could climb or jump. Still trying to figure out how he got inside. Maybe as a passenger on something brought from outside?

Yeah, we keep a couple of watering cans near the kitchen door and it's more common that not to find a small frog in each. A couple of times my darlin' bride has had to play frog round up when they've come inside. Same with lizards. And it's always fun when one's layin' in bed and catches sight of a bat or two swopin' through the house. At least they're helpin' keep the skeeters down. As for other odd visitors, I think that thought has crossed her mind when my wife sees my ol' truck comin' home from work.

We're all somewhere in the odd to weird category because we discuss having light when the power is off and owning GUNS!
Now which closet did Jack put those RPGs in yesterday?

Sounds as though ol' Jack knows how to make things go boom. Not that that's a bad thing in my world. It's been so long that I'd have to read the labels on a Claymore to remember which way to point it.

Don't Claymores have "This side to enemy" labels? ;-)
