Background: I mentioned having an outline for a new story some weeks ago. My eye has healed enough that I'm at the eye-and-a-half stage - I don't have good focus in that eye yet but it's not so bad I must keep it closed all the time when I read or type.
Earlier today, I completed a few hundred words at my current point in the story. It's now past 1AM and I just completed a little over 2000 words that's more than a week out from where I was earlier today. It's not the first time my muse has gotten out of time sync but I hope she's back soon so I have enough to start posting...

I'm still waiting for her. I have about 6 days of story, then 5 or 6 days of 1 or 2 lines of notes, then a day of story, then a few more notes. I've tried BBQ, fried chicken, home made banana pudding and fresh-from-the-bush blackberry cobbler and home made red velvet cake - even some peach french toast. With all of that, she only responded with a few paragraphs :-(
Better that I don't post what I have until I can fill in some of the middle or the MOAR monster will be hungry very quickly ;-)
One thing left that I haven't tried: Here Muse, Muse, Muse! Suuee! Here Muse, Muse, Muse!

With all the unfinished stories on the prepper/survivalist/pron... uh... I mean lusty adventure sites I've been on, gettin' most of the promising stories that've been abandoned to be dragged to the finish line would be a worthy endeavor. Meanwhile, we'll patiently await your next posts.

My muse is still dropping in and out at her choice of days and times and with her choice of story bits - hard to make a cohesive time line when I get a Friday, then the previous Saturday, then the following Sunday and Monday but nothing for Tuesday through Thursday. Not sure but what this one might be ready for Completed Stories by the time she gets all the events together. But all of you would lose the joy of using the "M" word if I did that. If the story is ever finished, guess I should post it a chapter every two or three days to spread the joy out over time ;-)
I've put off posting what I have because I'd rather not start another "Will it ever be finished?" story. I'll give it another month or so, but then I might decide to post a short (for me) story along the lines of "A Week in the Life of " which introduces some interesting characters but leaves their problems unresolved. I think it would be good reading until you hit the unexpected "The End", but not very satisfying.
Maybe I should divide the work out and assign a character to every poster? Even the ones who mostly post that four letter "M" word. And put kaijafon in charge of all those writers?

For those following the saga of my on-going eye surgeries, I got a positive report from the surgeon about today's visit. The most recent graft is fully attached and the uncorrected vision in that eye is 20/60 (other eye us 20/30 a year after its surgery). New glasses are in the pipeline (7 to 10 business days which probably means the full 2 weeks). Aside from the astigmatism (manifested as multiple images in one eye), my vision might be good enough to pass my next driver's test without glasses ;-) If the eye continues to improve over time as the first one did, my uncorrected vision could be a line or two better on the chart - 20/50 and 20/40 are possible; the 20/30 of the first eye isn't quite so likely. The anti-rejection drops have gone down from 8 times a day to 6 times (a month ago) and today to 4 times a day. That will taper off over the next 9 to 12 months until it reaches one drop a day forever.
It seemed that I might be in "Wait until daylight" mode an hour or so before I posted this. The predicted "scattered thunderstorms" became a thunderstorm warning for some adjacent counties and we had 0.26 inch of rain in the first 15 minutes. The rain did eventually slow down, as the 45 minute total was 0.44 inch of rain. After the rain passed over, there was serious lightning activity to the west as the various UPS units kept coming on because power was lost (lights out) or there was a voltage surge/sag large enough to trigger the UPSs. The pure sine wave UPS for the plasma TV and cable box probably cycled back and forth 6 or 8 times. My wife appreciated that particular UPS when Atlanta played in Super Bowl LI (Feb 2017) as there was an extended power outage that started during the last 10 minutes of the game. I plugged a USB light into a power bank and put that atop the DVD shelving to have light for snacking. She didn't miss a second of the game and had light to eat popcorn by ;-)

My muse is in "Don't understand the calendar" mode again. I have at least something for the daily events through the storyline's date of 23 June, nothing for 24 June, have 25 June, nothing for 26 June through 11 July, have 12 July and 22 July but nothing between them. I don't consider one sentence adequate to describe a day's events - other than "Everybody died." On the other hand, that's the easiest way to end a story.
I may be skipping some days and just making reference to plans beforehand or events after the fact.

I lean more to subtle things like Glenfiddich pudding. Just don't have any in the freezer at the moment.

My muse visited again today but she's a month into the future of my story. I have another 2000 words to post when (If?) I can fill in the missing days...
