The last few months have been difficult. I had a workshop fixed up perfectly and that is where I wrote also. A fire destroyed it all, including about 8 hard drives of stored material and books I had started and completed. I even had all my backups in the same building, so I lost it all. Now with a new shop and a new computer, maybe I can get back at it.

I have a small web site up and I use some of the disk space to warehouse my stories: things published on Kindle, the current story here including what's been posted, whatever is next and the "thinking about it" items. My site doesn't include a lot of data storage but "Just Another Voicemail" with all the bits and pieces is less than 5MB so there is room for many stories. Hosting for the web site costs me $18/year so it's some of the cheapest semi-secure storage there is (they backup daily). I have the stories on more than one computer at home but fire or lightning could take all of them out at once. That's not likely when the backup is in a different state.

I have never been very good at making sure my personal belongings are taken care of until this year when a neighbors house burned down. Everything was insured but what was really important and that stuff is priceless. I now have a fireproof safe and I keep all my important papers and my saved hard drives in there. I just wish I had the discipline to update it more often, that would be my next project. Forthteller

I email myself my stories to my gmail account, that way they are always on Googles servers and I can reach them from any computer anywhere
