This bone is the most humerous and refreshing read I have had for a long time. I'm going to have to go listen to obummer to put me in the mood to read something more serious. Let us all just squeeze out a smoke signal for him to come back soon with great enthusiasm and a mind full of ideas. Thanks, Millwright

Any ideas as to what it might take? Torches and pitchforks, bribes, 72 virgins... how we gonna get him to continue? Told ya I could be a PITA.

Well, in another 5 days it'lve been' 16 months. No pressure, millwright, 'cause it's only been almost 16 months. I'm sure nobody's countin' the number of months (16) since there's been more of this wonderful tale. I doubt that anybody has kept track of how long we've been waitin', have they? I'll wait patiently.

One of the companies that I did some very lucrative work for had an issue at a plant down towards the messican border in Texas. It seemed there was a random fault in one of their production lines that could never be isolated. Every few days it would hiccup and shut down the line, this was a miserable ordeal because it took hours to bring everything back up.
They had asked me to go down an take a gander at it, but weren't really thrilled at my price. Apparently some pencil necked geek in a cubicle at that plant couldn't do the math on the real cost of a line shut down. The little weasel called to give me a ration of shit about it and I told him that price was good for one particular week, then it was going to be substantially higher. What I didn't tell him was that timeframe coincided with the Texas snapper season and I was going down that way anyhow. The other thing he didn't know was that I did a lot of things at the local plant in a way that helped their maintenance budget, the corporate CEO was also aware of my flexibility on some matters and appreciated my willingness to make things look good on paper for him...at no cost to myself.
After a call to the big boss the dots started to form a picture. There was something not quite right at the Texas plant but they couldn't exactly figure it out from corporate. That plant operated about 1-2% less efficient than others. 1% of multimillion dollars is still a respectable chunk of change. A lot of that percentage was in the maintenance department, tucked here and there such that it didn't really raise any suspicion.
The CEO did an immediate approval on the cost to get me down there so I could look at things.
He also planned on being down there on my last day of fishing before starting a personal survey of the plant himself. He was instructed that there was no Budweiser allowed on the boat...just can't allow bilgewater on a fishing trip.
Once all that was settled, the real planning started, how to get Modgirl down there for a week of fishing.

Thanks you, sir! What'd it take, the 72 virgins, bribes, pitchforks & torches? And is Manic really dumb enough to think that Modgirl ain't gonna jump at the chance to go and have a whole week to pick on him? I'd almost bet that the aforementioned CEO is her Godfather. Can't even begin to guess where you're takin' this but I'm definitely along for the ride. Again, I thank you.

I have worked some places where the maintenance department motto was "Job security is job one!". Bookkeeping could also be in on it, diverting some of the monies to their own pockets. Either case, they are gambling with a lot of people's livelihoods, factories have been closed down for less.

Ain't nobody here who's keepin' track of the fact that it's been about what, 7 weeks? Hope we don't have to wait 'til Manic's old enough to need a hip replacement and Modgirl's daisy dukes are replaced by Depends.

I could care less about those cold, unfeeling keys and that glaring, unblinking screen ... but when my imaginary friends stop talking to me, I start getting paranoid.

Hell, I hung around here for most of 2 years, enjoyin' what folks have written, before I joined with the express purpose of thankin' Millwright for what he'd done with this story and hopin' to encourage him to add to it. Not takin' anything from any of the other authors here, but this one hooked me. I'd sure like to see it finished, but I don't want to put too much pressure on the guy. Nobody but me probably even cares that it's been almost 2-1/2 years since he started it. :^) Anyway, Millwright, thanks for the enjoyment I've gotten from it, and for creating a great protagonist. While I'm at it, thanks to all the others who've given me hours of fun and thoughtful entertainment with your works here.

I haven't forgotten about this.
The meat world has been busy, with the election over I can attempt to get back into this story soon.
When it started, I had time to devote to it, this winter....not so much.
There are several new stories here-n-there that need to be read and just haven't had the time for them either.

Dang it, millwright, I saw somethin' posted here and figured I'd get a fix. Turns out you're just leadin' us on. Now I guess I know how some of the ladies feel, waitin' for a guy to send 'em flowers, take 'em to dinner, the whole nine yards, and all they get is a message on the answerin' machine sayin' "Hey Darlin', thinkin' about ya" and that's it for another few months. In all seriousness, I'm just glad that you're gonna add to what you've done so far. Ain't it a bitch when life gets in the way of doin' what you really want? Then again, I really want to eat, so there's that to consider, too. Thanks for keepin' us in your thoughts.
