I strongly doubt the ad's specs of "pure sine wave" as 3000 watt PSW inverters generally start above $300.

Yep, those are some very optimistic ratings. I especially like the 10,000 watt psw inverter for under $300. Wife got a good chuckle out of it as well.

Helps if you know how to read Chinese vendor ads - such as solar panels with the power computed from Voc (open circuit voltage) and Isc (short circuit current). It is impossible to have those conditions at the same time...

But the ad writer has been told to "Make it look powerful" so he/she multiplies the two highest numbers to get the "power" - after all, he/she knows zip about electricity in general or solar power ratings in particular.

Ignorance might be bliss for some but it's a pain in the wallet for those who believe what's in the ad :-(
