www.aliexpress.us/item/3256803052465824.html12 volt DC permanent magnet generator at 500, 750 or 1000 watts. For a waterwheel-powered 12 volt system or a generic DIY 12 volt source using a small tiller or lawnmower engine, this would be more efficient than a vehicle alternator as none of the generated power is bled off to create the magnetic field as is done in typical vehicle alternators. Probably fine for any lead-acid battery, but you would need to watch for the windings overheating if you're charging lithium-based batteries of any flavor as they have a MUCH lower internal resistance and are a heavier load than any of the lead-acid batteries: flooded, AGM, Gel. You do have an IR thermometer for checking the things you build, don't you? The generator comes in two mechanical versions: one with just a V-belt pulley and the other with a V-belt pulley on the mounting end (standard alternator mounting ears on both versions) plus a plate on the other end of the shaft that could drive some other device - maybe a small water pump? The prices start at $16.56 for the 500 watt version and go up to $28.52 for the 1000 watt (that's 77 amps at 13 volts). However, the shipping is $55.17 so perhaps better prices if you'e ordering more than one. The ad does not give the dimensions but that it is a two-wire connection with the positive wire to be connected to the battery when the ignition switch is on - that would need probably need a mechanical relay for the currents involved. Just another idea for someone to run with...
