Except the one on aliexpress.com who sold this drive as "USB-C": www.jecarter.us/files/bad-usb-c-sm.jpgand is refusing to give me a refund. The USB-C connector on a phone or tablet is a male connector - but it's recessed to protect it from being easily broken. This device has the male USB-C connector which will NOT connect with the MALE connector in the phone or whatever. I can't believe the designer/factory was that ignorant of how those connectors are configured... Get a flashlight and look into the USB-C connector on your phone or tablet. There's a male connector in there. The female connector might be assumed to be the male end because it goes inside the phone/tablet but that connector is open all the way down. It was only $9 but I'm tired of being lied to by the (possible totally ignorant) Chinese vendors. Could I open it up and make other use of it? Probably, if I'm not so annoyed with the vendor's responses that I start the work with a 4lb sledge hammer...

Given a usb-c is a 24 pin connector and your picture only show 8 (I am guessing 16 total) I have to wonder what on earth you have there

It doesn't quite fit into a USB-C female connector so I have no idea...
Maybe micro-USB?

Ok, there is a 16 pin version that doesn't utilize all the functions of the 24 pin usb-c...I guess just another thing to pay attention to when making purchases.
