I think I've mentioned that a house across the road changed hands this year. The new residents were there maybe 4 weeks and then had a U-Haul at the garage door and a generic white van at the front door. There have been lights in the house maybe three days in the months since then.
You have to wonder what they did to have left so quickly, what the maintenance/repair crew(s) fixed (the lights we saw were only on when a couple of pickups had been there), why the place still isn't inhabited and doesn't have a "For Sale" or "For Rent" sign on it.
Found shoddy/unsafe repairs in some of the refurbishing after the previous owner died?
Someone murdered?
Someone reported their meth lab?
They found nearly a million in small bills behind some sheetrock and decided to default on the loan and disappear to another state?

There's now a realty company sign in that yard but the angle is such that it can't be read from the house. Guess I need to go check how well the pressure wash crew did their job and get in a place where I can read the sign ;-)

Went out and made pictures where the "5-year-guarantee" paint job on the house peeled when the pressure wash crew did their thing last week - and where they did sloppy up-and-down washing on a horizontal (shiplap style) wood area and they not only didn't overlap strokes, they didn't even get close to the previous stroke :-( Much better to do those areas with horizontal strokes because small missed areas might be ignored as just the shadow of the wood above it - but no sun on the northwest end of the house in the morning.
Got a picture of the realty sign across the road and then checked their website. The asking price for the house across the road is now $439,900. Another few years of house-flation like the past 3-4 years and we'll be living in a half million dollar house - certainly not by design or intent because this place was well less than half that price when we bought it. It just met our needs at a price we could afford then...
Who knows. We might leave an "estate" that the kids will fight over...
