It's close to "yellow car season". Today's pollen count was 795 and the primary contributors were PINE, OAK, HACKBERRY, JUNIPER, ELM. When the pine trees get going strong, those numbers can easily be 2000, 3000 or more.
Pine pollen isn't an allergen in and of itself, but those numbers make the air gritty and that will affect your eyes, your nose and your lungs.

Yesterday's pollen count was 3937. Today's is 2592 and my exposure was less than 2 minutes to walk to the mailbox and back but I'm already in need of some relief from "scratchy eyes". Where are those Liquid Tears?

Looking out back, the solar panel that powers the lights in the shed is not shiny today. I think that means that if the rain forecast for the next two days does not wash the pollen off that panel, I'll be doing solar maintenance with a garden hose ;-)

You're not the only one. The entire day was hazy, such as one would see with a swamp fire - except it was all pollen.

The rain is here and there is a trail of water, surrounded by yellow borders, running down the driveway.

Not even close to the 4' they forecast. Fine with me. It is already melting off this morning. No snow removal today.
