I would have never guessed that it was your first attempt at writing. It is a nice story. It is fine as a stand alone short story and is a solid base if you wish to expand on it with more chapters.
Thanks.

Thank you. I intended for it to be a short story, but I think there is another chapter floating around in the back of my head.

I like. Hope you keep it rolling. You should move it over the active written stories if so.
My first deer rifle Dad got me is a Rossi .357 Mag. Mine is just the black "blued" carbine variety with a saddle ring. My cousin, a few years later, got the SS version in .44 Mag from his Dad for his first deer rifle. When we see each other every few years, we each try to convince the other to sell his rifle to us. Great little rifle. I've thought about getting my boys the version that Henry now makes.
From that little carbine a love of pistol caliber carbines was launched.

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. I love the little Rossi .357's too. How can I get it moved to the proper area, I think I can add a little more but I still have no idea where it's going.

Then when stories are complete, ask her to move it to the completed stories.

...I think I can add a little more but I still have no idea where it's going. And there in lies the beauty. I'm a new writer too. I sort of jumped in with no plan or direction. Sort of like jumping out of an airplane and then looking to see if you have a parachute on.

I do question opening gates. If cattle, horses are in distress…. But most pasture they are fine for weeks, months. If they get hungry they pressure fences. They find their own way out once power for fencer fails. What if that herd is still owned? Cattle rustlers likely will get shot. You open a gate, you close it.
