You know how little kids almost always have some very good pictures along the way? And that many lose that special bit of their appearance as they get into their teens? Both grands are in college and the older one had a picture from a trip to the beach during the summer. The curly hair from when she was little is back (she said saltwater causes it to curl). She's studying to be an archeologist and she often dresses as though she's headed for a dig, but all those bits that made her "that cute kid" came together this summer (maybe having met a possible Mr. Right has given her a little more incentive to work on her appearance?). Regardless of how things came together, we have the 20-something version of a picture from when she was much younger. I won't comment on it to her but that one picture looks like something from a model's portfolio. If I showed that picture to friends at church they would probably want their 20-something grandson to meet her ;-)
Not just a doting grandparent's opinion - I've been an amateur photographer for decades (even have one couple very happy with pix of their wedding)) so I know "recognizable faces" versus "good" versus "I want to meet" quality in photos.
