It is falling and sticking. Way too early for this.

We have forecast lows of 21F - way too early for December/January weather - but we did have the HVAC company out last week for their 'winter tuneup'. They are basically checking that everything functions on the gas-fired furnace for the main & basement levels and that the heat pump works for the upstairs bedrooms. They provide the 20" x 20" x 1" filter for that system as part of the service. The 25" x 20" by 5" filter on the gas-fired furnace is an optional extra and I can get them much cheaper online in a box of 3 or 4 filters - sometimes even free shipping. I used the last one I had in stock the day before they came to do the checks - and I reset the filter runtime alert on the thermostat to 184 days. After half a year, I'll check the filter and see if I think it's good for the next half. It has been for more than 10 years so I think it'll make a full year again.
It's OK if you say 'Cheap". I'll just respond "Frugal" ;-)

It is falling and sticking. Way too early for this. Same here They forecast the total of a trace to 1 inch of snow. Well it was 3+ inches and was very nasty driving, wrecks every where. They had done the same this past Spring. Said it would be barely 1 inch but when the storm was done, had 8+ inches of snow. This Winter may be very interesting, in a bad way.

December of 2017 the forecast was "1/2 to 1 inch on grassy surfaces". We had 7 inches on a brick retaining wall. Elsewhere in the county had up to 12 inches.
That was a little better than an early '60s forecast when we got 14 inches of "No accumulation"
Wish I could have had a job that paid the same whether I got it right or not ;-)
