Plays hob with air traffic in the Pacific Northwest - definitely Washington State and near it and possibly things across the northern US states.

Vital question. Will the volcanic ash get here and combine with the forest fire ash or will one overpower the other. Going to check on my supply of N95 masks.

Maybe get a full face resiprator to also protect your eyes? Or a positive-pressure bio-hazard suit with very good filters on the air supply?

Do they make on to fit a 2000 sq ft house?

It's called a "tight" house with the proper plastic wrap and construction joint fitting (walls to floors, walls to ceilings, etc.) done during construction (mechanical fit + caulk or equivalent) - and so "tight" that it needs a powered air exchanger to get any fresh air in the house - or to feed your wood stove ;-)
This 50-year-old house isn't that tight, but replacing the windows with argon-filled double-paned (and good caulking) and adding caulk as high as I was willing to go on a ladder outside did make a noticeable difference in the comfort level (didn't get up to the upstairs bedrooms, but I'm certain they need the rest of the case of caulk, based on the gaps around the bay window that needed backer rod before I could caulk them). The nook for the kitchen table is no longer cold in the winter and hot in the summer. I also closed off the fireplace in the basement because having a fire in the family room fireplace would draw the smoke across the chimneys at the chimney cap level and pull that smoke into the basement so I think I did a decent job of sealing most of the house. If I'd been able to do the siding on the shed dormer, that level might also be well sealed ;-) When we still had wood fires in the fireplace in the family room, I'd open a window near the fireplace (maybe up 1/2 inch) to have good airflow for the fire and NOT pull cold air over anyone's feet. A "slot fire" could actually raise the temperature by 10F on the front of a sofa directly across from the fireplace and about 10 feet away. The "inventor" of the "Texas slot fire" wants to sell you his $150 "slot fire frame" but I used a grate with 8" side logs the depth of the grate and 4-6" top logs the width of the grate to build my version of the "slot fire". Built right, that fire could be lit with one match and a sheet of newspaper and then needed no attention for the first two hours. Hey, I'm lazy and I think things should work almost forever ;-)
One of the side effects of some of the Rx pain meds is sweating without exerting significant effort and being "hot" in "normal" (78F or so) temperatures. The ceiling fan in the kitchen is turned to "high" when I'm at the table or I'll be sweating like the guy loading cotton in the days before automated machinery.

Looking at the grate, It makes sense that it is much more efficient at directing heat into the room. I think I could rig something to a conventional grate for a temporary expedient solution. I don't have a fireplace, but this does give me some ideas for an outdoor fire pit.
What I would really like to do is put a mass rocket stove in my basement, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Reminds me of the shell on my dipped cone shattering, except warmer. It's a shame that people are dumb enough to put themselves in a position where they lose their life. Probably taking a selfie!

If I didn't know better, I would think the Earth ate at Taco Bell and it didn't settle well.

Iceland is still at it.
This town is evacuated because of it.
And Etna is not giving up either
