I got a call this morning from a person purported to be my grandson. H was in custody after a traffic accident, with a broken nose. He gave me the number of his lawyer. I called and they wanted 10% to bond him out. After several calls and some online research it was all a big scam. My grandson is fine at home. The call area code was Hartford Ct. They sure did a lot of research to get most of the information.
Be careful out there.

Maybe ask the lawyer to fax you a copy of the police report and the bail documents? If it's a scam, the perpetrators probably won't have a fax machine. I only have a "fax machine" because the all-in-one inkjet printer does print, scan, copy and send/treceive faxes. There is a less expensive option - Mighty Fax software, as long as your computer is old enough to have or support a modem ;-) I found Mighty Fax when a contract programming job wanted my timesheet faxed in each week. Keep the timesheet in Excel, print to a PDF file, let Mighty Fax "scan" and send the PDF.

I never called them back after I talked to his mom, and called the Public defenders line and they had no lawyer by that name.
