For those curious what 260.95 smoots measures out to - it is 1,456.97 feet (or about 0.28 miles). (One smoot is 5 feet 7 inches). Love the MIT reference.

Chapter 61
Jeremy heard the plane land, took the Gator up to the hangar and stood by as Beth turned the plane around and shut down.
“How do things look over that way?”
“Cleveland lost two substations, but will have them up in a couple of days.” Joe replied.
“Lacy asked about you, Jer.” Beth said, grinning.
“I don’t even want to hear it.”
“Hey! She has experience, been married three times.”
“Exactly!” Jeremy said, shaking his head.
Joe laughed. “She does seem to have the hots for you.”
“You two can put the plane in by yourselves!” Jeremy said, getting in his Gator and leaving.
“I didn’t mean to make him mad.” Beth said.
“He’s not mad. He’s got something on his mind.” Joe said, watching Jeremy drive away.
“Get the tug and let’s put my baby away.”
Brian leaned back from the computer after making the order. One of the things they had discovered was although the EMP didn’t destroy the solar panels in the affected area, it did kill inverters and some wiring, and the effectiveness of the panels were reduced by 5%. Just plugging a device into a surge protector didn’t protect anything. With the higher risk of geomagnetic storms and now terrorist attacks, Brian decided to add a whole-house surge protection system to the Lodge to reduce the risk of damage to the electronics. He also added to the list of spare electronics protected in Faraday cages they kept in the shelter so they would be covered. Brian also ordered two sets of replacement solar panels manufactured by First Solar, the only U.S. manufacturer of solar panels. Brian had called Jason and Chase and they were adding the whole house protection systems also. No one should look askance because they protected from lightning strikes also.
Jeremy closed the satphone antenna and looked at his watch. He pulled out his cell phone and called Joe.
“Joe, can you come down to Beth’s?”
“On my way.”
“I need you two to be in Parkersburg at 2000 tomorrow night to pick up pick up a shielded passenger. She should arrive between 2015 and 2030. She is going to be tired so put her in the back so she can rack out. She’ll have been on a scatter route with at least six different flights; rental cars driving to other airports; through a minimum of four states, in over a week’s time. You’ll need to pick her up at the armory in Williamstown and bring her back here. Last commercial flight in to PKB is at 1900 so you should grease right in. I’ll have the light buoys out. They will be on the standard activation frequency. Stay right of them.”
“Good, I don’t have to taxi all over the place at PKB.” Beth said. “I can stop before I reach the taxiway to the armory and be in and out in a jiffy”
“Well, not too quick. There will be a fuel truck waiting for you. Use an evasive route on the way back. Time it with minimum reserves.
“Roger that,” Beth and Joe echoed.
Jeremy got in the Gator and went around the lake on the trail to Jason and Chase’s. Chase’s UXV would fit his plan better than the travel trailer. Jeremy found Chase and Faith in the equipment shed putting tires on two old trucks.
“Hey Jer.”
“What are you going to do with these two old trucks?”
“I’m going to restore them!” Faith said.
Jeremy helped them get the trucks down off the blocks and using a tractor, towed them over to the garage shop. Jeremy steered the old trucks but had to put a piece of plywood on the seat to sit on to keep the exposed springs from biting his ass. Once they had that accomplished, Jeremy asked Chase what he planned to do with the UXV once they moved into the house, which was only three weeks away, +/- a few days.
“I don’t know Jer, sell it I guess, but not many people around here could afford it. That RV is a little over $500,000 new.”
“I’ll give you what you paid for it plus $25,000.”
“You going traveling?”
“No, we have a broken branch that needs transplanting.”
Chase’s eyebrow rose slightly. "Someone's been compromised." Thought Chase.
“Sure, no problem then. I’ll give you a yell. What about the trailer?”
“The price includes the trailer.”
“Okay, fine…that’s fine with me.
Jason checked the firebox and added more wood to the outside boiler. He went inside the greenhouse where Freya was pinching suckers off the tomato plants.
“And what was the reason you said you were doing that?” Jason asked.
“See this? That new stem growing up between the stalk and the branch is competing for nutrients with the original plant. I could leave them on and have more tomatoes, but the tomatoes will be smaller and the plant will be more bushy and cumbersome.”
“If you say so. How are the strawberries coming along?”
They are doing fine. I cross-pollinated them yesterday and we should start seeing berries before long.”
“Pollinate?”
“Yes. Strawberries are self-pollinating but you’ll get bigger berries if you cross-pollinate. Since we don’t have any bees, I took a Q-tip and pollinated the two varieties.”
“Where did you learn all this stuff?”
Freya grinned. Come on City Boy, help me plant the potato boxes.”
Freya had previously directed him to build eight boxes of specific dimensions with one side removable to plant the potatoes in. She had mixed planting medium and some of the rich loam together and filled the boxes. She got seed potatoes from Jenna and they were going to plant the potato eyes. When they were finished, Freya checked the thermostat and hung her gloves up on a utility hook.
Taylor Parrish was tired. She wasn’t physically tired but mentally tired and would be that way until she could get behind her computer and get back to work. She had been traveling for almost a week now, going to random destinations only to be directed to somewhere else. The “Handlers” made sure she kept a low profile the whole time, even getting her a “Do Over,” getting her hair cut and changing the color. She wore contacts now too and was getting to like them, even the color. They even changed her clothing styles and identity. She had just flown from Grand Island, Nebraska and had landed in Columbus, Ohio. Now they were driving to somewhere in West Virginia. In McConnelsville, they stopped for an early dinner. The driver said they should reach their destination between 8:00 and 8:30.
The tires droned as they rode along the two-lane highway paralleling the Muskingum River. Suddenly, there was a huge fireball to their rear.
“What was that?”
The driver tuned the radio to a local news station and 20 minutes later there was a news report about a multiple vehicle accident on highway 60 involving a fuel tanker.
“Looks like I’ll be taking I-77 back,” the driver said.

Suckers can be buried up to the bottom leaves and often root becoming a clone of the parent plant for later yields. Tomatoes and peppers are tropical perennials, often lasting more than one year in greenhouses.

Ok, just gotta say that our shredder, disintegrates the wood. It RIPS through the tarp we tried to collect some nice wood chips... it becomes dust in the wind.
It even dug a HOLE in our yard with the "chips" which we still cannot find.

Chapter 62
Taylor slipped the G42 out of her coat pocket and checked it as they neared the Highland Avenue Bridge. She felt they were nearing their destination. Four miles farther they turned into the National Guard area of the airfield. A lone plane sat there with a tanker truck next to it. A few minutes later, the truck pulled off and there was a flash of red light from the aircraft. It’s engine started then two flashes of red light came from the vicinity of the aircraft and her driver started the car then moved toward the aircraft. They stopped and a man helped her out of the car and took her bags. Taylor boarded the aircraft and grabbed a seat on the left side and strapped in.
Beth turned in her seat.
“Hi! I’m Beth, your pilot. We have a ways to go so once we’re in the air, Joe will show you how to adjust the seat so you can get some rest.”
While Beth was talking to Taylor, Joe ran the detector over and around Taylor’s bags and across the back of Taylor’s seat. Joe took the earpiece out, wrapped the wire around the device and slipped it into his pocket.
When her bags were secured, Joe closed and locked the door, then went forward past Taylor to sit in the co-pilot’s seat. The aircraft taxied out to the runway and was soon in the air. About 15 minutes later Joe got out of the co-pilot’s seat and came back to show Taylor how to lower the seat back to almost flat and offered her a bottle of water. Taylor accepted the water and leaned the seat back to where it was comfortable. As soon as she lost consciousness, Joe came back, checked her for weapons and emptied the pistol mag and a spare. The aircraft continue on to the west into the night.
Earlier in the day, while the women went off to do things for the wedding, Chase and Jason headed to the forest to collect deadfall. They took both tractors and didn’t take long to fill their trailers. They got three loads each and helped each other fill their wood sheds.
“When will they finish your house? Jason asked.
Chase chuckled. “The house will be finished and furnished about a week after the wedding.”
“Well, That UXV isn’t bad to spend a little time in.”
“No, it’s a good RV. I’m kinda glad Faith opted for no honeymoon right now. We still have a lot to do to get the house ready.”
“Well, If you need any help let me know.”
“Thanks Jason. You think they’ll continue to keep us on reserve?”
“Jer promised me he would, and I don’t know of a time he didn’t keep his word. If he calls us in, it’s going to be REALLY important.”
That afternoon, Brian had idled the boat as Jeremy dropped the first anchor and buoy on the light line into the water. He moved slowly forward on azimuth as Jeremy fed out the line of lights, keeping the line from tangling. When they came to the end of the line, Brian stopped to allow Jeremy to lower the large buoy and its anchor then pressed the rubber covered switch on the box to place the buoy into standby. They would retrieve the line of lights the next morning.
After flying back southeast to the Memphis area, Beth took up a heading southwest. Crossing the Mississippi River, she dropped down and flew a NOTE profile to Mena and back northeast to pick up her alignment west of Washita Lake for landing. At the warning on her FlightNAV, she changed the radio frequency and pressed the push-to-talk switch and ahead they saw the water lights on the lake activate. Beth competently landed the Kodiak on the lake surface and headed to the two strobe lights marking the ramp that had been activated along with the water lights.
Taylor woke up, feeling groggy, when the plane touched down on the lake. She looked at her watch and it said “1:26.” It must be in the morning because there was definitely no daylight. She watched out of a window as the plane moved toward a pair of strobe lights, turned sharply left and went up on the shoreline.
As the plane taxied up on the ramp and turned around, the strobe and landing lights automatically turned off. Beth shut the engine down and an eerie quiet enveloped the area. A man with a red lens headlamp walked to the plane door. The man in the co-pilot’s seat came back and opened the aircraft door. They unloaded Taylor’s baggage into a truck and helped her out and to the truck. When Taylor was seated in the truck and it was moving she asked, “Where are we going?”
“Hi Taylor, my name is Jeremy. We’re going to a lodge where you’ll stay for a little while.”
Taylor remained silent on their short trip. When the truck stopped, she couldn’t see much but when they got inside it reminded her of a ski lodge she’d once stayed in in the Adirondacks. Would they get snow here? Where was she? Jeremy set her bags down.
“Do you want something to eat Taylor?”
“Maybe a little, but I’d really like some water. I’m really thirsty for some reason.”
A woman came out of another room.
“Hi! I’m Jenna. Come on, we’ll get you something.”
Taylor followed Jenna into the kitchen where Jenna motioned for Her to sit at the breakfast bar. Jeremy went to the refrigerator and looked inside.
“Taylor, we have milk, sweet tea, ice water and coffee.”
“Jer, there is a six-pack of Cokes in the pantry.” Jenna said.
“Maybe some sweet tea.”
"Of course you do. After waking up from that drug, people usually want something cold and sweet.” Jeremy thought.
Jeremy took the iced tea pitcher out and set it on the bar. Taking down a tall glass, he filled it with ice cubes and poured the glass full of tea.
“Help yourself on the refills.”
Taylor drank almost half the glass before she put it down. Jenna sat a plate with a chicken salad sandwich on it in front of Taylor.
Jeremy pulled the pint ZipLock bag containing her rounds out of his pocket and set it on the bar top.
Taylor looked down at the bag but kept eating.
“I knew someone had unloaded it.”
Jeremy gave her a puzzled look.
“The weight, it was different.”
Jeremy’s eyebrows rose slightly.
“You’ll be here for a week, maybe two and then you’ll be on your way. I think you’ll like your next phase. I’m asking you not to get on your computer yet, even though you are probably 99% safe. A more secure upgrade of the router equipment you are already used to will be installed at your next location and you can get back on line.”
“Would they have really killed me?”
“We can’t be sure. At a minimum you would have been kept alive but ‘disappeared’ and pumped for information. Those people aren’t particularly friendly when exposed to the daylight. Go ahead and reload your mags and weapon. We all carry around here. Rest up and if you need anything, let us know.”
“Okay, thanks.”
Jeremy left and Taylor refilled her tea.
“Where are we?” Taylor asked.
“Arkansas.”
“We must be way out in the sticks, I can barely see any light pollution on the skyline.”
“Pretty much. I love it here. No traffic noises and people to bother you, if you don’t count the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Just hearing the sounds of the animals and the wind is so peaceful.”
“Yeah, it is a big difference between Hagerstown and here.”
“You grew up there?”
“No, I grew up DuBois, Pennsylvania. I was living and working in Hagerstown when I…uh…felt I needed to see other places.”
“Well, it is kind of isolated here compared to what you’re used to, but we’re in pretty easy driving distance from bigger venues.”
Taylor finished her sandwich and drained her glass.
“”Come on.” Jenna said. “I’ll show you to your room.”
They each grabbed a bag and Jenna led her upstairs and put her in a bedroom with an adjoining bathroom.
“Get some rest and sleep as long as you want.” Jenna said and left.
Taylor was exhausted and slipped off her shoes and jeans then got under the covers. Taking a deep breath, she quickly drifted off to sleep.

Chapter 63
Jeremy pulled the anchor up and unclipped the it from the buoy line, then began coiling the water light line onto the deck of the boat. Brian moved forward slowly as Jeremy reeled the line in. When Jeremy had pulled the far anchor into the boat and was seated, Brian turned the boat and went back to the dock. They took the coils of water lights out and laid them out on the shore to dry.
“Was she up when you left?” Jeremy asked.
“No, I didn’t expect her to be. She’ll probably sleep until 10:00 or so. What’s the deal with her?”
“She is a genius. She’s one of three people here in the States that can dig through the crap on the networks and come out with pure gold, sometimes literally. She cleaned Senator Gorham’s account out in the Caymans which paid for three more actions. He was pissed but what could he do? He knows someone is one to him but he doesn’t know who. He’s already set up an account in Liechtenstein we are keeping an eye on. He's not long for the chopping block if he keeps up. Anyway, NSA caught a blip on a project she was working on against the Secretary of State and his kickbacks. We thought it would be safer to erase her tracks. She had no family and no current boyfriends. We’re giving her a new lease on life.”
“How long is she going to be here?”
“As soon as Chase and Faith move into their house. She’ll get the RV and she’ll be set up in a different location to get back to work.”
“Are the rest going to be okay?”
“Oh yeah. We discovered how they stumbled upon Sher…I mean Taylor, and fixed the problem with the others.”
Taylor woke to the faint smell of bacon. Still groggy, she sat up in bed and looked at the gray skies showing through the window. Kicking the bedclothes off, she went to use the bathroom, washed her hands then used cold water to wash her face. A few strokes if her hairbrush and she was ready to go downstairs. Pulling on her jeans and sneakers, Taylor headed downstairs.
She followed the smell into the kitchen.
“Well good morning!” Jenna said.
“Good morning. That smells delicious!”
Jenna handed Taylor a coffee mug. “Pour yourself a cup of coffee. I’ve got eggs and pancakes coming.”
“Oh God!”
Taylor was salivating as the first pancakes were buttered and placed in front of her. Jenna seemed like she had four arms as she manipulated the pans on the stove. In no time she had bacon, eggs and three pancakes in front of her. Jenna placed a pitcher of warmed maple syrup in front of her and poured her a tall glass of orange juice.
Taylor was silent as she basically shoveled the food into her mouth. Jenna smiled as she began to clean up. Finally, Taylor cleaned her plate and got up to pour another cup of coffee.
“Thank you. I haven’t eaten much more than snack foods and sandwiches the last four days.” Taylor said.
“I thought you needed a big breakfast. Listen, if you need anything as far a ‘supplies,’ I’ve got extras.”
“No, I’m good for now. I think I’m going to need to take a walk after that meal!”
“Well, get your coat. I can take you on a tour.”
“Okay!”
“Come on.” Faith said.
“Where are we going?”
“We need to get your suit to the cleaners and I need to go to Walmart.”
“Do you really need me to go?”
“Well, no but…I just feel like spending some time with you today.” Faith said, giving him those puppy dog eyes.
“Well okay. I really don’t have anything to do I can’t push back.”
Faith smiled and went to get her coat. She needed about five hours to keep him away from the house.
Jason filled the wood rack on the covered deck and the holder next to the fireplace. They kept the radiant heating down to 60 degrees in the house but and used the fireplace often. It kept the house, as Freya said, “Homey.” Jason was amazed at how his life, and his outlook on life, had changed since he’d met Freya. God, he loved that woman! He saw her coming back from the chicken coop carrying the egg basket.
“We’re getting a lot of eggs! I think I’m going to make a lemon pound cake.”
“My favorite! Are you going to drizzle that cream cheese icing over it again?”
“If that is what you want. What are you doing?”
“I was going to check on the yearlings and then split some more firewood.”
“Okay. I’ll have bacon and roasted potato soup and BLTs for lunch.”
“Okay, I’ll be back.” Jason said in his Arnold voice.
Jeremy looked at the message then checked the coordinates on Google Earth. Perfect. There was an ATT Data node less than 20 miles to the northwest that connected with the Taum Sauk site. It would actually be a better site than they had with their connection with Mt. Magazine. He would have to get a tech out to do some modifications.
“It is so peaceful here!” Taylor said.
“I have lived in this area all my life and never wanted to leave. Oh, I’ve visited big cities but it all seems fake.”
“Yes, you’re right. Most of it is. Everyone trying to outdo someone else in what they have and exaggerate who they are. It’s nuts!” Taylor said.
“Come on, meet the horses.”
Jenna took a carrot out of the bucket and broke it in half, giving half to Taylor.
“Buck!”
The two horses looked at them and galloped over. Jenna held her piece of carrot out in her flat palm and Taylor did the same. The two horses took the carrot pieces in their lips, chewed them up and nuzzled for more.
“They’re beautiful.” Taylor said.
“We try to ride them at least once a week.”
“I hope they put me in a place like this.”
“Just hope the next place has people who aren’t fake. Say, do you have a dress packed away?”
“Yes, why?”
“Well we have a wedding to attend on Saturday.”
“Oh, I wouldn’t want to intrude.”
“No, all friends and family are attending, and you are considered a friend.”
“Well, It’s just a simple dress…”
“No matter. As long as it’s clean and doesn’t have more than 3 blue jean patches you’ll fit right in.”

Chapter 64
Chase watched Faith drive off. She was going to be staying at Freya and Jason’s until the wedding. The woman was amazing She had kept him away the other day until a cover over the patio had be bolted together and roofed with alternate opaque and translucent panels. It would make the perfect outdoor cooking area. When he got his head straight from the wedding he would do some research on outdoor kitchens. He walked back to the patio area and looked around. Faith was one of a kind. Chase remembered his grandfather saying that women are like cats. They just do whatever the hell they want and their logic defies reason. Faith was kind of a free spirit but she would protect and love her family.
The next day Freya helped Faith get ready and Jason went over to Chase’s to make sure he didn’t tie his shoes together. The wedding was just to Chase’s liking, short, or at least as much as the priest would allow. Jason stood as Chase’s Best Man and Freya was Faith’s Matron of Honor. The reception didn’t have an open bar, per se, but Dave and Joe made sure drinks appeared when requested. The small band from Mena was good and everyone had a great time. The newlywed couple did leave town for three days and reportedly had gone to Little Rock.
Taylor watched the guests at the reception. The people were certainly more personable than those she had encountered in Maryland. She was actually enjoying herself. Joe kept her supplied with drinks but kept them light. She danced with several different men including Brian and Jeremy. She knew it was inevitable, but she kind of hated to leave the community on her next assignment.
While the wedding was going on, the builders worked extra hours to get the house finished. As soon as the floors were done it was all hands on deck to get the furnishings in. On the day Chase and Faith were to come back from Little Rock, the house was completely furnished to include food in the freezer and refrigerator. Emma was exhausted but was rewarded by the looks on the couple’s faces when they returned. Jeremy had already removed their personal items to the new house from the UXV and was getting it checked out and some components upgraded.
Brian, Jenna and Jeremy watched as Taylor practiced the drills Brian had given her on the range.
“She’s pretty good for not having been able to use the range back home.” Jenna said.
“Is she papered?” Brian asked Jeremy.
“Yeah, she got a permit with her packet.”
Taylor fired her last round and the slide locked back. She dropped the magazine, cleared the pistol and laid it on the bench.
Thanks for the range time. Do you have a cleaning kit?”
“There’s a range kit in the conex.” Brian replied.”
Taylor trotted over to the conex container and came back with a .50 caliber ammo can. She stripped the pistol and quickly cleaned it. Replacing her carry rounds back into her magazines, loaded and holstered the pistol.
“Satisfied?” Jeremy ask.
“Yep! I thought I might be rusty. It felt good putting some rounds down range.” Taylor replied.
“Well, let’s go. I want to show you something.”
They all got into the Gators and drove back to the Lodge. Jeremy had brought the UXV and the trailer over and parked it next to the equipment shed.
“Taylor, this is going to be you next base, of sorts.” Jeremy said.
Jeremy showed her through the RV and explained about the upgrades.
“We’re placing you In a remote location where you’ll have an ATT data node nearby and satellite access. The equipment has been added in here to make you practically invisible. We have people who can give us a heads up if anything leaks but our best people have guarantee it will be years, if ever, that any of the agencies smell even a whiff of smoke.”
Taylor’s eyes were big. I was like a small apartment. It even had a washer and dryer. Everything she would need was right here.
“The unit is basically self-contained. You could operate even without electrical hookups. You have a fresh water tank and black water tanks. The next few days you’ll get instruction on how to operate this beauty and to stock it with what you need.”
Taylor looked everything over and they stepped outside.
“Am I going to have to drive this to the nearest store every time I need groceries?”
“Come around here.” Jeremy said.
They walked down the side of the vehicle to the trailer. Jeremy lowered the ramp and inside the trailer sat a Jeep CJ5 with a canvas top.
“This is your get around vehicle. All the vehicles have been registered in your name and back-dated.”
Taylor was stunned. This was a better setup than she had ever had before.
“I’ll give the organization 110% Jeremy.”
“I know you will. You always have. Now get this thing outfitted. Chase will be over tomorrow to train you on the vehicle. You need to get back into the big picture.”
Taylor got a crash course on the UXV, practiced driving it, along with the loaded trailer, and gathered supplies. Jenna taught her more about cooking in the convection microwave and gathering pots and pans for the induction burners and how to cook on them. Jenna helped her pick out recipes for the limited cooking area she had. Jenna took out freeze dried meals from their storage to stock the UXV pantry and trailer. The new satellite system was hot and gave her a lot more bandwidth. Taylor was excited to get back to work, especially with this setup. She was just waiting for Jeremy to give her the go and the address.
….Congresswoman from the 14th District was killed today when her chauffeured vehicle plunged into a massive sinkhole cause by a broken water main. Authorities investigating see no reason not to rule out foul play. In New Jersey, the congressional representative for the 5th District, Congressman Dwayne Filchner (R), was killed this afternoon in a one car crash. Recent allegations have risen about his possible connections to organized crime.
“I want an intensive scan done. I want to make sure we are clear to launch. Have the other two been repositioned? Okay then. Give me a call back in three days.” Jeremy heard the phone beep twice, shutting down encryption. He started to call Bryan then decided against it, got in the Gator and headed for the Lodge.
Faith felt like she was walking on air. She LOVED her new house! The white stucco reminded her of Irish houses she’d seen in magazines. She had big plans to plant a lot of roses in the springtime. Her mother had ramrodded the setup of the furniture and it was perfect. She couldn’t help walking around and just touching everything. Walking into the kitchen, she took the marinating meat and veggies out of the refrigerator and sat them on the counter. Walking to the back door she watched Chase putting the cabinets together along the translucent wall in his cooking area. Faith walked out on the deck then down the stairs to him.
“It looks good Chase.”
Chase straightened up and looked at the area.
“This place is just too good for a simple charcoal grill. When I get my next dividend checks deposited, I’m going to get one of those gaucho grills like Jason has.”
“Well, fire up the one you have now. The kebobs and veggies are ready and I’m hungry.”
“What are we having with it?”
“I’m making rice pilaf.”
Jeremy deleted the coded text, got in his truck and went over to the Lodge. He arrived just as they had cleared the supper dishes and were having big slices of Lemon Pound Cake. Jeremy accepted a slice and a cup of coffee and sat with them to eat it. He slid a piece of paper across the table to Taylor.
“These are the coordinates to your new station.”
Taylor looked down at the coordinates. “Where is this?”
“It’s a small campground about 15 miles northeast of Cassville, Missouri.

Chapter 65
Faith, Freya and Emma were going shopping all day in Fort Smith so Chase and Jason decided to go deer hunting. The were up and gone before the women even got out of the bed and were lying in wait when the sun came up. The dust hadn’t even settled on the road from the women heading out when the two hunters came across the ridge with two deer stacked on the deer cart. They Telechecked them in and began skinning them out.
“I want the hides.” Chase said.
“For what?”
“I’ll tan them. Back home, I used to tan my own hides. I started when I was around 13.”
“Okay. I’d like to watch you do it.”
“Not a problem. When you get through skinning your deer, just roll the hide up, hair side out.”
“Roger that.”
Brian drove up and saw Jenna walking casually around the garden area. A bit curious, Brian walked down to her.
“What are you looking for?”
“Nothing, just thinking.”
Brian waited for further words. “Okay, what are you thinking?”
“The other day, I talked to a lady who does greenhouse farming. They have an 80’ greenhouse and they raise vegetables year round. I went online and read a lot of articles and we could grow all kinds of salad stuff and fruits in the winter time.”
“Is that something you want to do?”
“I think we should give it a try. Jason and Freya built a greenhouse and are getting things right now out of it.”
“Why don’t you touch base with Freya and talk about it.”
“I will.”
Dave gave Jeremy the report on the spare parts they needed to have on hand for long term survivability, to include several sets of replacement generator rebuild kits for the generators they had. All of those would be stored in the EMP proof shelter and the other non-electric vehicle spare parts would be stored above ground. Their actions made everyone begin looking at everything when they were out shopping at the possibility of it being useful to them or for possible trade in a future of uncertainty.
Beth sat on the bench in on the lowly lit walk by a lake in Kentucky, awaiting the contact. She heard the footsteps and someone stopped and sat down at the next bench.
"Le ciel est magnifique ce soir." (The sky is beautiful tonight.)
"Mais les étoiles sont plus belles en se reflétant sur les eaux du lac." (But the stars are more beautiful reflecting off the waters of the lake.)
“Be at the Hightop Boat Ramp at 0700 in the morning. If you aren’t there, I leave.” Beth said in a low voice.
“I’ll be there”
The woman got up and headed on down the walk.
Faith had her Christmas shopping done and now she could put some time on the trucks before the holidays. She pulled the engine out of the 6400 and completely tore it down. Cleaned parts were neatly laid out on the floor in an orderly manner. Faith was gauging and checking every part as it was cleaned and if necessary, lubed. Chase came in and checked on her.
“How in the world did you…”
Faith grinned and pointed to the galley hoist.
Chase was amazed how that little woman could manipulate an engine of that size, disassemble it and had most of it already laying on the floor.”
“I’ll have to hone the engine cylinders out.” Faith said.
“Do you have the equipment?”
“Oh, sure. It won’t take much. As soon as I get this engine put back together, I can get started on the pickup.”
“Okay, I’m headed into town. Do you need anything?”
“Yeah, can you stop by the auto parts store and get me a bucket of Staurolite?”
Chase grinned and nodded, shook his head and left the building. Some women liked to knit, some…
Dave put the last case on the trailer and the loadmaster closed the clamshell. Joe jumped up on the tractor and quickly pulled the trailer away from the plane. They stayed safely out of the way of the plane as the engines started, the plane turned around and raced back down the runway.
“Where are we going keep these things? The caps are stored with them.”
“Don’t worry. The caps are shunted. They’re no more dangerous than the Raufoss rounds.”
They drove the cases up to the ammo bunker and stored them with the rest of the ammo.
Beth flew back in just before dark under overcast skies. Rain began to fall as she pulled up on the ramp. She quickly brought the tug out and moved the Kodiak inside and shut the doors. <”Today sucked. It should have shot the bitch in the head and pushed her out the door over the Mark Twain. She will end up causing trouble.”
Beth walked around and did a full check on the plane. She checked outside and then checked the weather app on her phone. The rain was projected to end around 0300. She could fuel up in the morning. Beth refilled the mini-frig in the plane with water bottles and emptied the urinal bottle. Shutting out the lights, she went upstairs, made a salad and cut on the TV. God save us from the neophytes.
“Do you have Beth doing anything tomorrow?” Brian asked.
Jeremy looked at his phone. “I don’t show anything. What’s up?”
“I’d like to fly down to Dallas and pick up some more coins.”
“Take some cash out of the gun room and deposit it in the accounts. Do a bank transfer for the coins. Let’s keep the activity down as much as we can.”
“I’ll do that.”
“Where are the cousins working right now?”
“They are going to start working around the southeast side of the lake.”
“Have them go up on Brushy Mountain. That place is a tangle. We need to run a drone survey around there. I don’t want that place to become a hotspot. I’d like to do some controlled burns up there around March.”
“Okay. As soon as they clear the section they’re working on, I’ll send them up there. What about the areas we’ve cleared over on the east side?”
“No, let’s keep it as it is for our friends.”

Chapter 66
Chase looked at the thermometer and turned the blower fan switch down. The grate heater heat exchanger in the fireplace could blast a lot of heat out. Faith brought him out a cup of hot tea and sat down.
“Is it hot in here to you?”
“I just turned the blower down. What’s the plan for Christmas day?”
“We’ll go over to Momma’s about 11:00 so I can help Momma finish making dinner.”
“What are we taking over, as far as food?”
“Just pies. I’ll make mincemeat, sweet potato and apple pies.”
“Pies? How many are you making?”
“Just one each, except for apple, I’m making two and keeping one back here for you.”
Chase smiled and hugged her.
“Jason and I will be out gathering firewood this afternoon. We found a couple of good trees.”
“Take a radio. I think I’ll work in the shop in a while.”
“I will. Are you going to need a fire?”
“Please. It’s a little chilly today.”
They walked out to the shop together and Chase built a fire in the wood stove. Faith was in the process of rebuilding the carburetor on the workbench. She put a set of coveralls on and began to work.
“Hey, I finished the shotgun. We’ll keep it in the pantry on the right side of the door. I’ll take you out to shoot it so you can get used to the modifications.”
“Okay honey, thanks. Maybe we can think about putting one out here too?”
“Of course. I’ll order the parts.”
Chase had done a little customization on a 12 gauge 870 he’d gotten from Jeremy. It had an extension magazine installed, as well as an adjustable slide stock with a rubber pistol grip. Using a special fore end mount, there was an M3 TACTICAL flashlight mounted below the barrel. A momentary on/off switch was built into the M3 housing. The pump slide was replaced with a pistol grip slide. A side saddle carried three flechette and three 00 buck rounds. It made a great intruder greeter or if you needed to pull an immediate action drill on a group of MZBs.
“We are? Brian drew Jenna into his arms.” Are you sure?”
“Verified by Doctor Roach yesterday. I should be due in late June.”
“But you haven’t been sick or anything!”
“Dr. Roach said not every woman gets morning sickness.”
Jenna grinned up at Brian. “You’re going to be a daddy.”
Brian grinned down at Jenna. “She’s going to be as beautiful as her mother.”
“I think it will be a boy.”
“We’ll see.”
Chase took the 870 and went over to Jeremy’s.
“Take a look at this Jeremy.”
Jeremy took the shotgun and looked it over.
“This is nice. You pay for the parts yourself?”
“Yes.”
“Can you put together 12 more like it?”
“Sure, I just need to order the parts.”
“I’ll give you a credit card number and pay for the parts you bought for this one. Good job.”
The trip to Dallas had opened Beth’s eyes. She had money drawing interest but it was losing value through inflation faster than the interest was building. He bought gold and junk right along with Brian, although not as much, and was going to keep doing it every chance she could get. It was a good thing the organization was paying for the fuel and upkeep of the plane. It cost $500 an hour to fly her baby. She was busy moving people and items all over the south central portion of the country. Jeremy called it “moving the chess pieces,” but it was stirring up a hornet’s nest because people were awakening to the corruption of most of the government and the government was getting nervous. A tipping point was on the horizon. She was cleaning the windscreen on the Kodiak when Jeremy came in.
“How are you doing Beth. You’re not tiring out with all this flying, are you?”
“Oh no! I’m fine. I’m just wondering what the end game is going to be.”
Jeremy sighed. “The end game is unclear right now. We’re trying to head off what a lot of people believe is inevitable. I don’t think it has to be inevitable, but all true Americans must be prepared for what’s coming. If we don’t head off the Progressive Democrats the costs in blood will be heavy. If this actually comes to a civil war it will not be fought like a regular war. Rules of war won’t be observed on American soil and civilian suffering will be tremendous. We’ve already experienced the restrictions placed on citizens during the so-call pandemic, the riots supporting career criminals, the riots and loss of life supported by the Democrats and the continuous stream of lies that gush out of the Democrat machine.
This war is being pushed by far-left radicals and their deep-state puppet masters who have little value for human lives. They are all for killing babies before and after they are born, support euthanasia, and try to force experimental vaccines on the populace that are now proving are more dangerous than the virus. For them, civilian casualties will just be collateral damage and acceptable, not be moral evils, but merely be a part of their larger plan to ‘reconstruct’ America. Their objective falls right in line with the Communist Manifesto: overthrow our constitutional order, destroy our way of life, and deprive us of our freedom, our liberties, our property, and our honor. They want to be the sole government entity.”
Beth nodded. “Until recently, I wouldn’t have ever believed a civil war was possible But after the riots and seeing there really was a two-tiered justice system, I think it’s possible now. But the warning signs are all there, and more are popping up every day. They seem to become more rabid and fearful, trying to take everyone’s guns and stealing elections. Doesn’t it just make them more dangerous?”
“Of course.” Jeremy said. “But they are already dangerous. That’s why we are taking out key leaders as quick as we can without leaving a trail.
If you look at history, most wars are a result of a coup d’etat carried out by extremists. Our coup d’etat was the elections of 2020 and it caught most Americans by surprise. The Establishment coup plotters of both parties acted quickly to seize the critical levers of power, before any opposition had a chance to react. Remember soon after the polls closed, the Democrats were touting how this was the most transparent and clean election ever? Any time a Democrat spouts a truism, it is a bald-face lie. That election was ripe with voter fraud but the Democratic Socialists were ready. Over the years they have built an almost a Goebbels-level propaganda machine and abetted by the mainstream media, pushed their lies so much people were believing it. The ignorant took the bait hook, line, and sinker. Lenin referred to people like that, contemptuously, as useful idiots.
Antifa and radical anti-white elements of the Black Lives Matter movement, have been acting as the shock troops and are augmented by the even larger numbers of veterans of Occupy and other far-left movements. But the real power is behind the scenes, in the hands of the bureaucrats of the American deep state, who want to preserve and expand their far-reaching powers. We are a threat to them.
Just as in the Revolution, we have our own Tories. Some are quietly submitting to the Leftist movement, or at least refraining from overt resistance. Most will give assistance to the plotters in way or another.
We are but a few hundred thousand patriots against criminals, progressive Democrats, Establishment Republicans, professors and brain-washed students from the leading institutions and a biased media. You’re going to see a lot more action soon and it’s going to get bloody.”
“Do you have an M4 I can put in the plane?” Beth asked.
“I’ll have one down and a half-dozen loaded magazines in the morning.”
----NEWS FLASH----
Two newsreaders from both CNN and MSNBC were killed today when their cars were destroyed by bombs thought to be placed under manhole covers in New York City and Atlanta. Shortly after, the following communiqué was released to all major news agencies”
“The major news agencies have been abetting the left wing crimes in this country, covering up crimes against the people of the United States and willingly distributing the propaganda perpetrated by the Democrat party and their fascist and communist supporters. We will add journalists, newsreaders and editors to the Establishment criminals that are trying to tear down and reset this country. You have nowhere to hide. The bodyguards with the two leftist supporters were not collateral damage. If you support or work for these people, no matter your political beliefs, then you are painted with the same stripe and should expect to be just as much a target. There will be no more warnings.”
