The County Water system sent out an email today:
A server hardware issue has caused the billing system to be temporarily unavailable. We are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. There will be no service interruptions while the system is down. Until the system is restored we are unable to access any customer information including: account numbers, service requests, or account history, etc.
======
Back in my day - when we had to use whips to keep the slaves pedaling fast enough to keep the disk drives spinning - we had tape backup but things did get backed up and a system could be restored in a matter of hours.
Ain't ya still s'posed to have backups fer things like that, even out here in Pig Wallow, GA?
I guess that means the bill won't be here the first week of September so they can get paid for August's usage - if all the records are unavailable, they can't even send out an estimated bill because they don't know prior years' usage.
But you won't have to pay until the system is back up because it says "There will be no service interruptions while the system is down." Could you bribe a tech to keep it down for a year?
