When they arrived at the mall, they had to park a good way from the entrance. They were walking through the cars when a guy jumped out and grabbed Becky around the neck. Becky immediately stomped his right foot, put an elbow into his gut, twisted to her right and slammed him behind his right ear with her left fist. The guy dropped like a rock. Following up, she kicked him in the jaw.
Billy had been walking ahead of Becky and didn't know what had happened until it was all over.
"What the hell!"
"Dude grabbed me."
A security patrol car came rushing up. The security guard rushed over.
"Ma'am, are you all right?"
"I'm fine." Becky replied.
"Our monitoring room saw what happened and the cops are on the way."
"I want a copy of the tape." Billy said.
A police car pulled up and a female officer and her partner got out. "What happened?"
Becky told her what happened while the other officer handcuffed the perp.
"Al, I'm taking her to the monitoring room. Put him into the car.
The security guard led the officer, Becky and Billy into the building and to the security office. The officer had the guy on duty at the monitors run the tape. I clearly show exactly what Becky had described.
"We need a copy of the tape." Billy said.
"Hey, these things cost money!" The security guard said.
Billy pulled out a twenty dollar bill and laid it on the desk.
The officer had a two copies of the tape made, took the original and left the other one with the security office.
She took Becky and Billy's statements while they were in the office.
"Where did you learn moves like that?" The officer asked.
"A friend taught me. It's Krav Maga. She works for HTR Security."
"HTR….the remembered some of the other people talking about going there for training."
"Well, that's all I need from you. If you have and questions, you can contact the station."
"Could you wait until our lawyer gets here? He should be here shortly." Billy asked.
On the way into the building, Billy had called Cal and told him what happened. Cal had called who was in Grand Junction that afternoon.
As they were walking back outside, Billy's phone rang.
"Billy, it's Dale Anderson. Where are you?"
Billy looked at the nearest section sign and read it off to him.
"We'll be there in less than a minute."
A car pulled up and Dale and another guy got out.
"Everyone all right?"
Billy chuckled. "Yeah, everyone but the dude that Becky kick the sh.."
"Billy!" Becky scowled.
"Guys, this the Duane Parker. He a criminal defense lawyer."
"We didn't do anything! Billy said.
"I know, but he's a little more versed in these things than I am."
Duane handed them both a few business cards.
"You two are not to talk to anyone outside family about this incident without one of use being present. Do you understand?"
"Sure, no problem." Billy said, and Becky nodded.
"Officer, do you need them for anything else?"
"No they're good." Officer Patrello said.
At that time an ambulance pulled up behind the patrol car. The EMTs where checking out Becky's attacker.
"Where are you guys headed to?" Dale asked
"I was going to the Converse store" Billy said.
"I'm with him. I'm his bodyguard." Becky grinned.
Dale laughed. "Okay, be careful, and call your Mother. She's probably going crazy."
When Billy and Becky walked through the door Siobhan jumped up and hugged them.
"What happened!?!"
"I bought some new shoes and Becky kicked some guy's ass." Billy grinned.
Cal chuckled.
"Are you all right Becky?" An apprehensive Siobhan asked.
"I'm fine Mom. Didn't even break a sweat."
"Well, I don't want you two out like that again!"
"Oh, leave them alone. They handled themselves pretty good. The training Astrid and Dave gave them came in handy. They can take care of themselves."
Billy had been walking ahead of Becky and didn't know what had happened until it was all over.
