The Honda walk-behind mower needs a new battery and I'm considering building the last one it will need from LiFePO4 cells for about 3 times the cost of the AGM battery that needs replacement every year or two. While researching the current draw of starters for small gasoline engines, I found this downloadable document: www.smallenginesuppliers.com/html/engine-specs/briggs/Briggs_alternator_replacement_guide.pdfAlthough the title has "alternator replacement", the document also has the no-load current draw specs for the various B&S 12 volt starters and a note that starting current over 100 amps indicates a problem.
