We all know that everyone wants to tell you how bright and beautiful/handsome their grandkids are. Here's a funny about one of our granddaughters.
This year she's taking three AP (Advanced Placement) classes, for which she can get college credit. Currently a high school junior, she decided that she'd take standard calculus this year because of her class load and then maybe take AP calculus next year.
This past week, she was complaining to her mom that standard calculus was boring because it moved too slow ;-)
Most of the adults I've known would never have complained about any version of calculus being "boring" or "slow".

I sure didn't complain about it being either of those things. I loved math class ... and then I took calculus. I got passing grades but I didn't understand it. I took it again. I did much better but decided I wasn't going any further.
In my job, I use algebra and geometry a lot. But I don't recall any of the concepts from the class I took two years in a row.
But my kids are like your grands. They both took AP Calc their junior years. The girl had to work at it but still aced it.. The boy is a different story. He just got his ACT scores back and got perfect scores in Math and science. I've decided he's got more of his mom in him.
