My wife's last surviving aunt (her favorite aunt, by the way, and someone you never got away from without a hug regardless of your age ;-) has been in home hospice care for some months. She had a bad spell about a week ago and there was some discussion that she might need to be moved to the hospice facility but they finally determined that she could remain with the son who's been caring for her.
Aunt Mary went home this afternoon at age 90. She was the last of her generation so a chapter of the family history has closed. My better half has needed some hugs but we knew this was imminent and she has kept in touch with her aunt by phone during the lockdown.
Don't know what the service arrangements will be, but the last I checked our state limits in-person funerals to ten (including clergy). At least one area funeral home offers virtual services which can typically have unlimited attendees. That might be a good option as family is scattered over multiple states (from memory, that's at least Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Virginia).
This morning we had put some BBQ ribs in the slow cooker and put together sides of baked beans and potato salad for our two person Labor Day celebration - just a coincidence that we have comfort food for supper tonight...

Even though everybody knew it was coming it is still a closing of a chapter that can never be re-opened. Condolences to you and your.
