Fedex is becoming the biggest joke in local delivery services. Package left their Atlanta area sorting office at 11PM on Wednesday. At noon Saturday, USPS says they are still waiting for the package and Fedex hasn't updated the status beyond where the package was Wednesday at 11PM.
C'mon, Fedex - it's an hour's drive from Ellenwood to our Post Office and you couldn't complete that in 48 hours?

All the delivery services are suckin' donkey snot right now. Our UPS guy was sayin' yesterday (?) that their system was down. His handheld scanner didn't seem to have any info and he had to actually line out his parcels by hand and go by a written list on paper, of all things.

At least UPS is still getting things delivered, even if with 1950's technology - if it works, it's good ;-)
Fedex has been hit hard by events as this tidbit is among the other "Covid-19 response" items: FedEx has suspended our money-back guarantee for all FedEx Express, FedEx Ground, FedEx Freight and FedEx Office services effective immediately until further notice.
---
I ordered some lithium batteries for a Ridgid drill and they can only be shipped by ground transport. The seller used Fedex Ground. The first order "disappeared", signed for by "MM" (not us or any of the neighbors). I reported it to Fedex and they denied the claim. However, I do have the event documented.
That package eventually "turned up" on the porch (no knock, no doorbell ring) more than 3 weeks after it was reported "delivered". Meanwhile, I had ordered replacements and they were in transit with a delivery date of Friday, 21 August - until the online status changed to "Pending" just after 8PM on Friday. Saturday morning, the delivery date was Saturday, 22 August "by end of day" - until after midnight when it changed to "No attempt made. Rescheduled for next business day: Tuesday, 25 August." That status is in RED so someone (or the computer) knows they missed the promised delivery date.
Sorry, Fedex. The next business day is Monday, 24 August, so someome is ignorant or incompetent or you have so many out sick that you can't cover the deliveries with the remaining staff. The water filter order also supports my theory of "many out sick", (filter life is about 6-7 months and I put the last one in this month so delivery time isn't critical). Those filters are coming from the vendor by Fedex Smartpost (a little cheaper than USPS because they ride "space available" on Fedex's other vehicles and USPS does the "final leg" - local post office to mailbox - of the delivery). Online status shows those filters "departed" the Fedex depot in Ellenwood, GA (their metro Atlanta hub) at 11PM on Wednesday. Yeah, right - the package may have gotten a "departure scan" as it was loaded into the truck but the ONE hour drive from there to our local post office is now at the 72 hour mark and counting.
I have a story where someone wonders how many people an infected but asymptomatic delivery driver might infect in a week of deliveries. Looks like that comment should include the driver infecting other drivers and those who load the trucks in addition to people at places he delivers to...
Had enough real world scary for the day?

FXG used to deliver here six days a week, now I believe they're down to Tuesday through Saturday. Their local guy used to deliver the Smart Post stuff right to our local PO but now, it seems as though the big FedEx trucks just drop the stuff at the big USPS processing plant a hundred-some miles away and the stuff gets up here through a contract postal delivery guy.

From lots of experience watching packages in transit, I know what they've been doing until very recently plus the original delivery date on the Smartpost package was Saturday - definitely possible if the truck had left Fedex late Wednesday. If they were dumping things on the big USPS office, it's also in metro Atlanta and delivery there should have been the next morning.
Perhaps the Fedex staff has dropped below critical mass? Would that mean no more packages will move until their available workforce increases by 10 - 20%? Just looking at things with a critical eye and not seeing much chance of success...

This morning's status for the FedEx Ground shipment was: Delivery Monday August 24. At 7:30PM the status is: Local weather delay - Delivery not attempted Recommended action: No action required. Delivery will be re-scheduled when weather conditions improve.
Reason for exception: No attempt made, delivery scheduled for next business day Recommended action: No action required. Delivery re-scheduled for next business day.
Scheduled delivery: Tuesday 8/25/2020 by end of day
There was rain before 9AM today.* The rest of the day has been cloudy to partly cloudy.
Enough lies and excuses, FedEx - time to tell the truth: What happened to my package?
Or do you want to dig that hole deep enough for a class action suit?
* The nearest "official" weather station (general aviation airport in the next county is 5 miles line of sight) reported 0.05 inch of rain before 9AM. Weather delay. Right. And will you be trying to sell me the Brooklyn Bridge tomorrow?

Today I have the front camera in "record on motion" mode and it's quietly capturing every vehicle that passes in front of the house. At just after 7PM, no Fedex Ground truck yet. If they miss the delivery and pop up yet another ridiculous excuse, I'll post all the vids on a new Youtube channel and then write the CEO of Fedex with a request that he tell me in which video I missed the Fedex truck. Biggest thing since 7:30AM is a silver 4 door pickup.
I've already started contacting vendors who primarily use Fedex to tell them that they should use UPS in this area because Fedex is unreliable. One replied that they will use UPS if requested instead of their default carrier of Fedex.
The Fedex Smartpost truck needed 5 1/2 days to make a one hour journey from the Fedex depot to USPS so that package will have a six day delay getting here..

The Fedex Smartpost package was delivered by USPS today - only a week after it's original scheduled date.
The Fedex Ground package spent another day on the truck (per their tracking site it was "on truck for delivery" this morning - as it has been for a week now - and it's promised for tomorrow.
Would someone taking a shotgun to the local Fedex depot be described as "going postal" or would they coin a new term?

The Fedex Ground package spent another day (Saturday) "on truck for delivery" and now it's "scheduled" for Tuesday, 9/1.
The camera watching the road out front is in "record on motion" every day from 8AM to 8PM (or until they change online the status to show a future delivery date).
Fedex Ground is the delivery service that a month ago reported another package as "Delivered - Signed for by xx" where "xx" is someone I don't know. That package turned up on the porch 3 weeks later.
Would I believe Fedex if they said "The grass is green"? Only if I test that it is grass and there is no dye on it.
I think Fedex may be another Covid-19 victim - but one that's taking a long time to die. They certainly seem to be struggling to breathe...

Finally delivered today, by someone driving a Penske rental truck. Is Fedex contracting out their Ground deliveries? There are six small address labels on the package. One each time it went back through the local Fedex depot? If you have Fedex stock, this might be a good time to unload it... ========
