I am wondering if another solution can be arrived at for downloading TOM's books. I had downloaded a number of books, spending some time at it last night, only to learn that they were 'empty' PDF files. Just by pure chance, I read a post by someone in the "A Family Alone" thread (I believe it was) which said that 'the storage capacity for binary files had been exceeded in the forum'. But they gave a link to a page on archive.org, and I clicked on it and the page popped up so I was like "Cool! Bet!" (giving my age away here, kinda [it's actually even older] ) and started downloading the stories from there. Then, I got a that message about "The item is not available due to issues with the item's content." on Fort Navajo. So I was like "Well, maybe TOM accidentally let a curse word slip in on that one" and didn't pay it any more attention. But then when I tried to download the first of the "Guys and Dolls" story, got the same message. I think that some jerk that doesn't have a life, or anything better to do with it then 'stir the pot' against stuff they don't agree with politically, is probably 'flagging' TOM's stories there as inappropriate. That's the best guess I can come up with. So I was wondering if there is some way anyone can think of to post all of TOM's stories somewhere, where that anyone can download them, and jerks can not come around and pull this kind of thing at that site - if that is indeed why archive.org is going to it's "safe place" and issuing that 'issues with content' stuff. Thanks for any suggestions/solutions anyone might come up with for solving this problem, so that people can download TOM's stories. They are great work, and need to be preserved and accessible/downloadable.

These days it's always worth while to right click on a PDF and "Open in New Window" because you can save from that window IF the file actually has content.
I think of a few things will block people from posting the stories on their web page: 1) Don't have a web page. 2) Don't have the available storage capacity (most free page hosting provides limited disk space). 3) Don't want the extra work of putting the files up and making the web page(s) to link to them. 4) Don't want to deal with complaints about "content".
Dropbox might be an answer if the free capacity is large enough.
If they were posted somewhere with a disclaimer something like "Posted as a memorial to a good writer who wanted his works to remain free." then your standard answer to complaints could be "Plan to live your life so your afterlife will be in the same place he is so you can complain in person."
Don't know that I have disk space and traffic capacity to host a collection that size. Also don't know that I have all his stories. I can almost guarantee that my sites will go away following the hosting renewal date in the year that I die. Having something semi-permanent (such as the archive or dropbox) store all the stories might be the best solution.
If someone had LOTS of time and access to the text versions of the stories, they could format the stories for Kindle and put them on Amazon as freebies. No problem with storage space or traffic level and the books might be there for years (anything that brings traffic to the site is good). Just need an appropriate graphic to use on all the book covers and add the title to that graphic (Maybe a stoop-shouldered man using a cane or walker to get around?). If someone is interested, I can provide examples of that type cover.

Papaof2, thanks for your reply and the helpful suggestions in it. I agree that the best solution would be something that is going to be there for years, that is why it is such a disappointment to see this kind of thing from archive.org -- they claim to be a site trying to preserve everything on the Internet for posterity/'future generations' then cave to this PC pressure at the first whimper from the PC crowd.
P.S. : I believe brucearmstrong65 here on this site might have all of his stories, on that page you linked to it showed that brucearmstrong1 had uploaded all of the Gary D Ott (TOM) stories -- if I read correctly.

If you right-click on each story in the list of PDF files and open them in a new tab, you can click on the "download as PDF/epub" button and the file is available for download. I had gone down to the very bottom of the page that listed all of the PDF files, and it had drop-down menu's of the files in the various file formats. When I would right click to download them that way, that message about problems with content pops up. So, as long as you click on the PDF links in the list of PDF files one at a time and then click on the PDF/ePub button you can make the downloads that way. Very messed up behavior on the part of their site, but it turns out you were right papaof2, you can get the download that way.
