While trying to get a nap yesterday afternoon, I had the first two chapters of another tale pop into my head. I did finally get my nap. When I sat down at the keyboard later, I cranked out 3600 words in those two chapters. We'll see where this goes, as I have another couple of story threads going.
I'm probably being hit by both muses. It's a long story and will probably be the title story of a future book of short stories, but Liz and Lee Ann are both here and active, although I plan to sic Liz on a friend who has been dawdling over her semi-autobiographical novel for a couple of years. If I were my normal self, I might enjoy being that productive, but recovering from surgery takes a lot of my energy and I just can't keep up with two muses. It's good that both girls understand that a portion of my income comes from the books and that both are willing to help but we need a 'family' conference about the two of them cooperating on when and how much they send me. Maybe later today.
Premise of the new story? Statewide "Blue Flu" type epidemic among the EMTs. How many days of that would it take for things to go very badly in any given area?

Friend,
I guess that you can tell us. For me, digging out the relevant statistics and then properly evaluating then would be far too daunting a task.

You don't need detailed numbers, although they are nice to have, you just need the impact on a selected few people. SHTF can happen one family at a time.
