No, it doesn't really matter whether that semi towing an big excavator pays attention to the "Maximum Load Height" signs on I-285 around Atlanta. After all, he's just hauling equipment, not a load of merchandise. Except that the Mount Vernon Highway overpass over I-285 is now closed until the summer of 2024. The excavator was high enough that it damaged five of the six beams that support the vintage 1962 bridge. No mention of charges for the truck driver but I suspect releasing his name and address to all the people who will be inconvenienced over the next year would probably result in worse punishment than anything the law calls for... roughdraftatlanta.com/2023/09/28/sandy-springs-accident/

I'm familiar with that bridge. I can see RV owners being caught by it because they don't look for "Trucking" warnings but I can't see truck drivers who know they're some of the taller vehicles around NOT seeing the sign.
However, there are folks who have no idea how tall the U-Haul vehicle is or how tall the pickup on the back of the rollback wrecker is or how tall the "7 Feet Clearance" is at the Covered Bridge in the county but it should be obvious that a vehicle you can't see over might be high enough to get a close look BEFORE running into the I-beam vehicle traps that protect that bridge on both ends. The County does now collect a repair fee from those who knock down the I-beams. Probably seen by the guilty drivers as adding insult to injury but stupid is often an expensive lifestyle.
We moved one kid + spouse a number of years ago and I was the one driving the 20 foot box truck so I DID check to see how tall it was before I drove it off the rental lot.
I know, most people are too busy with their phones to spend time checking stupid things such as how tall the truck or the trailer is...
