China Building Long-Range Cruise Missile Launched From Ship ContainerDisguised weapon turns freighters into warships, ports to missile bases China is building a long-range cruise missile fired from a shipping container that could turn Beijing's large fleet of freighters into potential warships and commercial ports into future missile bases. The new missile is in flight testing and is a land-attack variant of an advanced anti-ship missile called the YJ-18C, according to American defense officials. The missile will be deployed in launchers that appear from the outside to be standard international shipping containers used throughout the world for moving millions of tons of goods, often on the deck of large freighters. From what I have seen there are several.

I'm trying to place the story, but the starting salvo was missile(s) fired from converted freighter(s). One freighter is under attack by US Forces as they're trying to get the missile launched. But think Middle Easterners instead of China at the controls. I'll probably remember the title when I'm a bit less foggy from hydrocodone/acetaminophen - maybe 4-5 hours?
That's OK, I'm sufficiently medicated that I can mostly function but not so much that I'm unsteady on my feet. Took a few doses to get it adjusted to this level, but I had asked the PA "Can these tablets be split?" when we discussed trying a pain med other than what I've been on for over a year. I have a week's worth of the hc/a to work out whether I want to use it for the next year or so or do a month trial of a constant delivery patch. The tablets are $6/month and the generic one-a-week patches would be $40/month (after insurance pays their portion) but I'm debating how much it would be worth to wake up because I'm rested instead of because I'm hurting too much to stay in bed. I think the patch wins for a month's trial and then I'll have much better data on tablets versus patches. Really need to do good research on these things ;-) Being on the patch would likely entail having some tablets to handle the occasional "breakthrough" pain such as I had Monday evening. In the log I keep of pain med use and its effectiveness, I noted that on a pain scale of 0-10, the initial blast of pain was a 13. I've only had one other event of that level pain this year and the tablets I was on then were not effective against the breakthrough when the pain med dose was doubled. Fortunately, the hc/a is effective in that case so my "almost nausea" pain was at a much better level an hour later.
What did I do to cause such pain? Not sure. I've been dealing with chronic and sometimes debilitating back pain for about 20 months. Monday evening I was removing some links from the band of the better half's new watch and when I stood up - the guy that wasn't there drove a hot spike into my lower back. Perhaps I was in one position too long? Not sure, but I have been making a point of at least walking from one end of the house to the other every time I stop for a drink (one med causes dry mouth so I frequently stop for water or whatever) and sometimes a snack (got a good deal on some Walker's shortbread cookies earlier this month: 25% off everything, including the already on sale items).
Ever tried an international dessert? A Scottish shortbread cookie covered with Nutella made using hazelnuts from the Langhe Hills of Piedmont, Italy, to the Tombul grown on the Turkish Black Sea coast and the Yamhill from Oregon’s Willamette Valley in the USA. Rich and probably capable of putting some people into diabetic shock ;-)

Still don't remember - it might have been a Kindle ebook, I'll find it when I'm looking for something to read ;-)

Sounds like something from "Normal."

I think "Normal" had nukes delivered by other means - not missiles. But then I've only read a few hundred prep stories in the past ten years...
