Idea for someone to run with? Wright a series of short stories where the hero is old/ sick/ disabled/ not rich. They realize that though they are not Rambo that they want to do something to return our country to the Constitution. Even though they can't run and fight they can through a monkey wrench into the system. The realize that they plan carefully and don't tell anyone what they plan to do or what they did the chances of being caught is low. Even if they cause a bad person disappear, it can work. Even if they only do this once it will make a difference. If they do something more often the probably of being caught goes up. etc. and etc

You need to read the post about Medicare Part G.
Basically, if Social security and Medicare can't/won't provide housing/food/care, you apply for Medicare Part G. They issue you your preferred gun and ammo. You remove a useless member of Congress or other governmental office. They provide you with lifetime food, clothing, housing, medical and dental care. You might even have a private room ;-)
Have you read "I Hate Being Old"?

Friend,
Over on anther Survival Board, someone started a story about a Military Veteran who'd lost both of his legs at the hip. He was getting some follow-up treatment at a VA hospital when the apocalypse hit. He had no gear and no vehicle and he was many miles from home.
This dude had been a US Army Ranger or Marine Recon or something. His upper body still worked and he had been exercising and pumping iron a great deal.
I forget how far the story got. I THINK that he came to a half-collapsed Mall and his half-size let him crawl through the debris and inherit some good stuff.
The dude that wrote it was out of ideas. I found a photo of cart pulled by two large dogs. A legless man would be considerably lighter and easier to pull than someone with both legs… The fellow liked the idea, but he stayed stuck. I liked the story so much, I did something that I've only done once—I asked him if he minded if I finished the story.
I had a number of dodges and clever gimmicks in mind. That's why I'm not sure if the Dude Raided a mall—or if I plotted that.
Then I had the thought that caused me to totally lose interest in the story…
I don't want to piss anyone off. You are entitled to your opinion—please let me have mine.
Whenever I say something like this, people want to kick my ass and I am NOT TROLLING…
BUT even if our legless "hero" survives every challenge and prospers—at the end, he is still man with no legs. While fighting, there is no time to ask yourself:
"Why am I trying so hard to survive? Life in this condition can have no satisfaction!"
O, you could find satisfaction in that condition? More power to you. You are different from me.
It is like I saw blind people skying on the television. Yeah, that is a remarkable achievment—but for me, the purpose of every trip I take and every action that I take is to SEE MYSELF DOING THAT. IF I couldn't SEE myself skying, what would be the POINT of skying!?!
Anyway, feel free to use the idea of legless guy with extensive combat/survival experience and the upper body strength and climbing ability of an Olympic Gymnast bugging home from a VA Hospital.

Perhaps if he had a family or loved one to get home to - that would easily provide the motivation to keep on going...
