Just an idea. Stoves are more efficient space than fireplaces but most conversions are expensive. What about using a stove designed for a one man tent? 1. The room you would be heating is probably better insulated than that tent. 2. The stovepipe for the stove is 2.36" in diameter. 3. The stove's opened dimensions are 15.15" front to back, plus 10.03" for opening the door, 12.2" top to bottom + stovepipe nipple (maybe 1"). The literal "footprint" (it's designed a portable stove so the legs fold up and the chimney & side racks fit inside. Glass door insert, damper plus air inlet control. Portable stoves aren't designed for long term use so I'm looking at this as a "more than a week but not permanent" solution - what would the stove have been worth to someone in Texas with a woodburning fireplace back in February? However, I'll measure the fireplaces tomorrow to see whether that stove could be on the hearth in a position that allows the stovepipe to go up through the damper. That small diameter stovepipe should work with the dampers in our fireplaces but I need to make some measuremments - or maybe hold a ruler in place with one hand and use a phone in selfie mode in the other hand so I can see what the camera can see and know when the ruler is in the right place? As I post this, it's $110 + $20 shipping at Amazon: www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlfCqdgxcG8
