Chapter Nine.
Phineas’ Story.
General Williams told me these people were rather extraordinary, as usual my old friend is correct in in his assessment. Each one has put their unique gifts and talents to good use in this war. So I lay out the plan “Ladies and Gentlemen you have done the United States a great service by locating and identifying the enemies plan.” this no lie but what I tell them next may lift their spirits. “A group of well trained and specially equipped soldiers will handle the elimination of the enemy and their deadly Bioweapons, after the battle we would like for you to care for any wounded and have a meal ready for our troops can you do this?” I am not surprised that they agree without hesitation.
Archie’s Story.
This man is not at all what I expected, he rode up on an electric assisted mountain bike outfitted for travel and carrying camp gear and freeze dried foods. What I didn’t see at first was his choice of weapons. He had a nice old Colt nineteen eleven in a shoulder rig that was made by someone who knew their trade and a Winchester model 94 Take Down Rifle. Can’t say I fault his choices any. The twins help him clear a space for his tent and he erects a Marmot Thor three person tent. I asked him why he chose that tent and found out he had used it on a few mountaineering trips and has become rather found of it.
Linda’s Story.
I check my trauma bag and fin I am under equipped so an order for supplies is placed with the General and he assures us a truck will be there in the morning with everything we need including food and fuel. I have faith in the General but I also know things happen.
Hiram’s Story.
I set up a watch schedule and some simple alarms just in case we were tracked. If so they may have waited until we were all in one place to strike. It never does well to underestimate an opponent. There may be a thin line between paranoid and prepared and sometimes the two are one and the same.
Dan’s Story.
Artie and I grabbed the short straw and have last watch. I see movement and hear voices that are not speaking in English approaching the camp. I have Artie wake the others and get them ready. As the voices are getting closer people do a good job of taking up their positions. I hope the plan works.

Any archers or crossbows in the group? Good way to quietly take out their rear guard. Also, if the officers/NCOs don't trust their troops, they would lead from the rear.

Chapter Nine continued.
Dan’s Story.
Wait for it, you have done this before almost there. The enemy is closing in slowly looking for an opening. They don’t know the one they will find is a trap. Como on just a few more steps don’t stop now GOTHA! They fell right into Hiram’s trap and are now boxed in. Ben is the first to fire making like a famous Finnish Sniper his rounds are finding their targets. He fires twice and moves.
Ben’s Story
I see the enemy is in the range of the trap and fire twice. Each round connects with one man. I move so they can’t get a line on me. The first man has friends who stop and help him. I wait until they start first aid and both of them, I move and reload my rifle. Now it is Archie’s turn.
Archie’s Story.
These heathen are not to badly trained but they got careless and we own them . I fire my M1A and these Heathen learn the meaning of pain. I get three of them. And they are advancing on Artie something fierce. I think I know what he is up to this should be interesting. I am ready to cover him if his idea goes south.
Artie’s Story.
I have a special treat for the invaders, something they soon won’t forget. A few should be dispatched and the rest may well need clean garments after I am done. They think I am afraid or something, maybe they don’t see me yet. I wait until they are close and open fire with my shotgun the 000 buckshot starts decimating their ranks and start to fall back. I planned for that and top off the magazine. I close back in and fire three more times and three more fall to the ground. Archie finishes off the rest. I wonder how the girls are doing.
Amy’s Story.
These guys are pretty arrogant if you ask me, telling us to surrender just because we women. I sight in on their leader and shoot him. it’s not a head shot but it puts him down. I choose another target and like the song says another one bites the dust. Look, I don’t hate them but this my country, my family has always answered the call to protect it and that will not end with me. Our motto is attack us and die.
Sharon’s Story.
I fire my AK-47 and a man goes down When the men return these guys want to surrender alright but it will be on our terms. Hiram and Phineas take them into custody as US army helicopter’s arrive and one lands in the field across the road.

Chapter Ten.
Jill’s Story.
I know these are United States Helicopters but that doesn’t make me any less suspicious of them. I keep my hands on my weapon and wait. One man exits the helicopter with a white flag. It appears to be the general, okay I am little less nervous now. I still have a bad feeling about this.
The General’s Story.
These people have done a great service for their country. If what I am told is true they have stopped our enemies from unleashing a plaque on us. I don’t care about orders to keep this secret they will know the truth. Once everyone has gathered I tell them. “My friends, while you were fighting here a special chemical and biological weapons group laid waste to the enemy camp.” I let that sink in “This force is composed of men and women from every branch of the service and you have earned their thanks.” “We have confirmed that the bio-weapon was made in China for the UN also Camp Grayling is back under our control.”
Artie’s Story.
The General sets a guard around our camp so we can rest for day or two. We need to give a report to the clean up team and resupply anyhow. I am worried about the girls they are too young to be in combat. The Medics tell me they will adapt better than an old goat like me. Right now they are playing with Ben and Gracie’s cat like nothing happened.
Dinner this evening is campfire steak and all the sides thanks to the General and his supply team. I asked the general about a resupply of ammunition and he promises us a supply drop in the morning.
Dan’s Story.
I call my contact and he needs us in another part of the state to investigate a missing civilian team like ours. He will clear this with the General later today. He has some “special equipment” for us. As I hang up an enemy jet roars overhead. This is not good. We may be leaving shortly.
The General’s Story.
I don’t know how that fighter got this far but I am going to find out and if needed heads will roll. I get the Air National Guard on the horn and an old friend tells me they are tracking and intercepting the enemy. It seems it is out of Canada and the two F-35’s are forcing it to land even as we speak.

Chapter Eleven.
The general’s Story.
It didn’t take long for the interrogators to get some answers from the enemy pilot. He had orders to find the civilian fighting group and if possible eliminate them . I get the word out to start packing and move to another location. I also arrange for the supply drop to meet us there. While they are packing up I have MRE’S distributed. It’s not high cuisine but they are quick and easy.
Artie’s Story.
The twin’s got the pizza MRE and now they want a supply of them “just in case.” I worry about their culinary futures. After breakfast I empty the fire box on the wood stove and get us ready to leave. The General tells me we are heading back to base.
On our way back we stop for fuel and bathroom breaks and find out that the UN has made another ultimatum demanding our immediate surrender and we have to turn over the new President for crimes against the UN and one world government. Yeah, like that is going to happen.
I listen to the drivel as long as I can and turn off the radio thinking we should tell the UN they have twenty four hours to get out or be bombed back to the stone age and their US supporters executed for treason. I know I will not see any of this happen.
We manage to get back to the base at the I 75 and US 27 interchange and are treated to food that is not our cooking or an MRE. Next we are debriefed and informed that the city of St. Louis was “disciplined” with a small nuclear weapon and the president wasted no time in leveling the UN building in New York with conventional weapons. Somehow the UN leadership managed to survive and are running things from somewhere overseas. Did they expect this or were they warned?
The nice thing about truck stops is many of them have showers and this one is no exception. I get the girls cleaned up then I get me cleaned up. If you ever tried getting children clean you will know this is a major accomplishment. The next step is our laundry, don’t let anyone fool you even in a state of emergency laundry is a never ending job.
As I am taking the newly cleaned laundry to the truck stop a very expensive motor home escorted by some very well armed vehicles pulls into the parking lot. I wonder what politician or millionaire decided to bug out?

Time for a demand for the leaders of the UN be turned over for crimes against the US. Might even offer a reward in gold and offer of sanctuary.

Chapter Eleven Continued.
Artie’s Story Continued
The driver manages to park the grand behemoth of a motor home without hurting themselves or others. No small feat, I assure you. Whoever owns this got the full package including automatic leveling jacks. I am glad I don’t have to pay to feed that beast.
The General’s Story.
I sent a runner to find the others and fetch them up to my “office” the people in the motor home are from NEST and have been assigned to my command. I wonder if I am being told everything by my superiors. This is not a happy making affair no matter how you slice it up.
Hiram’s Story.
It looks like we have some company in the form of Nuclear Emergency Support Team. Something doesn’t add up here, these guys are being stand offish when normally you can’t get rid of them. I need to make a secure call but first I better talk to the General and Artie something stinks on ice. I made a call to my contact and was told that he would check into the NEST operatives.
I track down Artie and tell him about my misgivings and he agrees something is off about this whole thing. He agrees to go with me and talk to the General. We pick Dan up on the way it seems he feels like we do.
Dan’s Story.
I have been around NEST before and these guys do not act like any NEST operatives I know of. Artie and Hiram share my concerns. We ask the orderly if the General can spare us a few minutes and are told “He went to inspect the armory. I thank him and we attempt to catch up with him. When we do he is with the intelligence guys and carrying an anti tank rocket!
The General’s Story.
Artie, Dan and Hiram catch me as I am on my way to take care of business. It seems our Nest people are fakes and have plans for us to play a starring role in a radiation survey reading. That is why I am carrying this fireworks maker.
It seems Phineas has found out that the real team was “disposed of” and these enemy clowns were sent in to destroy us. I greet my friends. “Hello boys, wanna see some fire works?”

An anti-tank rocket would do that.

Boy did I get stuck on this one. the Muse returned. Chapter Twelve. The General’s Story.
The rocket launcher is a last resort just in case plan A fails. I really want these guys alive. Phinehas assures me that the plan will work. I hope he is right. I watch him feed a small hose into a vent on the motor home and turn a valve on canister. We wait five minutes and two soldiers in full protective gear make entry and bring out the sleeping enemy. Phinehas wants them alive for questioning. I standby while Phinehas does his work. He is putting a tube into a vent in the side of the Motorhome attaches a tank and opens a valve. It does not take long for the “gas to take effect and a team is able to enter the Motorhome. As soon as the prisoners are awake we will ask a few questions. Now it’s time to inspect the vehicle and what we find is a small nuclear bomb. I want to know just what these jokers were planning and who sent them! Phinehas’ story. I do not blame the general for being upset a nuclear explosion will ruin your day and end your future. So now I will ask these guys a few simple questions. I toss a five gallon of ice water on enemy number 1 and ask “Who are you?” he answers me with a round of profanity. I give him a kick to his left side. I ask again “Who are you?” this time he answers “We have diplomatic immunity your President and the UN promised us.” it takes a few hours but I get the information I want. I learn what their goal was and we need to move the caravan group right now and I have a plan. I call a meeting and outline what I have learned. The enemy is not just from overseas and Washington DC. It has taken years but there was a recruitment of US citizens to betray their country. I propose making a strike on their supply depots located in the state.
I will need to run this up the chain of command so it can be a nation wide assault and maybe we can end this conflict. I am not holding my breath just yet. Wait one I am getting an incoming message from a contact.
