Ever have a post turn up with formatting you hadn't intended? Maybe italic or bold? Check the content of your post. The formatting uses the brackets "[" and "]" as delimiters for formatting. If you use the "[" in your post for some other reason [ defining a comment, maybe?] then the formatting software will look at the first character after the "[" and use it as a formatting command. To prevent this. follow the "[" with a space " " so it doesn't see the "[" as the start of a formatting command. Unfortunately, the formatting software isn't very smart and it ignores any characters other than the first one after the "[" so having an entire paragraph enclosed in "[" and "]" simply loses the paragraph if the first character is "I" or "B" or some other formatting character which is followed by a space. It doesn't see the line as formatting if the first character isn't followed by a space. [It's OK] works but to have "I did that" between brackets requires having a space before the "I" [ I did that]
Now you know the source of "random" formatting in posts.
