Admin, this can go in Completed Stories. PP2, Another story in the works? Texican.... On the back burner during some "honey-do" for our younger daughter - replacing the gas starter in the small wood-rated fireplace with some gas logs since allergies have made burning wood a no-no. That's assuming my muse comes back from wherever she's run off to this time...

There is only one PAW Muse and she skips haphazardly from author to author, kind of like a shy virgin that teases and teases and when you get to close to her off she runs to the next author.... Hope she stops by your place soon.... Have a great day.... Texican....

Tex, you could be correct - she's never said where she was when reappears. Maybe I should set up a spreadsheet to track which authors put up new chapters when and correlate that with my muse's wanderings?

Hi Papaof2
I just finished reading this book. Another wonderful story. Maybe there is a follow up story. That would be great. I bought the book on Amazon and red it on the Kindle. That's for the time you invested in this book.
Greetings Sancho

That's for the time you invested in this book. Greetings Sancho I left the way open for a future followup, but I don't have anything in the works for this story. Being in the middle of "The Waif", the not-yet-ready-for-other-eyes "Sudden Silence" and documenting the ongoing events of life with a muse in the house (maybe that's a future tale: "Care and Feeding of a Fiction Writer's Muse"?), I have all the creative work I can manage ;-) Thank you for your support.

It seems that "Homestead" hit not just a familiar note but a complete chord with ebook readers. It currently accounts for 43% of my ebook sales. Wish I had inspiration for a sequel :-(
While I did have a muse with a "Hurry up and write" inspiration yesterday (story running through my head that just kept growing and I had to start writing or lose it: 3 chapters, a little over 3000 words) it's yet another new story and I have two or three still to be finished... C'mon girls, time to finish what you started.

"Homestead" accounts for 45% of my book sales and is number 143,393 in Kindle Book sales today. With an estimated 7 million ebooks on Amazon, that puts it around the top 2% in sales today. Surely someone wants to make a movie from it? ;-)
The Amazon rating is affected by monthly, daily and hourly sales so one good day can move a book way up and one day without any sales can move it way down. Sales of 2, 3 and 3 on consecutive days and 57 so far this month seem to have been the trigger for the current rating.
Thanks to all who have encouraged my writing. The 7 books that are up are now paying the utility bills most months ;-)
Wish my muses and I were making better progress on some things that aren't yet ready for prime time as there's a book that still needs tweaking "Care and Feeding of a Fiction Writer's Muse and Other Stories" and two stories that are barely crawling along - one at 43,000 words and another at Chapter 3, plus Book 3 of "The Waif" stuck at Chapter 3. Barely crawling = 100 words added one day last week. Can't blame the muses too much - I'm not often in the proper frame of mind to write most days - but I am doing a lot of reading: some here, some JDY, some of my own writing.

"The Recycled Homestead" is doing well in several categories today. Thank you to all my readers. # 78,594 in Kindle Store (With some 5 to 7 million books on Amazon, that puts it near the top 2%.) # 845 in Distopian Fiction # 1,237 in Distopian Science Fiction (Kindle Store) # 1,997 in Family Life Fiction (Kindle Store) Link to screen capture: jecarter.us/files/ranking-23-jun-2020.jpgStill no offers of a movie deal, though ;-)

Considering that the first post here was in July of 2018, perhaps I did have a "pipeline into the future" ;-)
If only the pipeline had been working that far in advance of the dot com bust and the derivatives burnout so I could have moved the IRA to something safer: silver, gold, ammunition, armored vehicles, farmland, tractors, horses, seed...

I thought MotherHen (Kathy) had that ability. The Vision, not the Power.

papaof2,
Thank you for an excellent story! I hope your muse decides to put in a more hours a week than she often does. I have enjoyed all of your stories that I have read.
