Very good story; good flow and good revealing of the characters! Can't wait to see your next one!

A Difference of Opinion will be edited, revised, and ready for final posting within a week or so. And for anyone who's interested, a third story has begun! I won't spoil everything here, but I will tell you the title is (at the moment) "Welderman" and it is set in Las Vegas and the community of Mountain Springs, NV. And a little spoiler: A nuclear war will (most likely) not occur. Probably.

Now get back to work writing, lol I've been in a bit of a funk over getting to a good ending point on "Son of Welderman." Not a Motown funk or an uptown funk - just a plain ol' "my muse is on vacation" funk. Plus I made a couple of continuity errors which will necessitate a major rewrite of that story. But don't worry, I (probably) haven't given up! Thanks for the kind words.

I've been in a bit of a funk over getting to a good ending point on "Son of Welderman." Not a Motown funk or an uptown funk - just a plain ol' "my muse is on vacation" funk. Plus I made a couple of continuity errors which will necessitate a major rewrite of that story. But don't worry, I (probably) haven't given up! Thanks for the kind words. Sometimes you have to be creative and see what might tempt your muse to make an appearance. Banana split? Filet mignon? Chips with Rotel + Velveeta dip? Grilled burgers and bratwurst? A jar of Nutella and a spoon? Your own bag of cheddar and sour cream chips and one for your muse? If you've read the posted version of 'Accidental Family', you've seen where my muse left me hanging for days :-( For tracking timelines, Excel works for some people, a scheduler/reminder system works for others and a whiteboard could be what someone else needs - the timeline is visible while you write. I think something that has each character's actions displayed on his/her own line and you can display a week or a month at a time might work for many people. Excel is something I have (a company I worked for a dozen years ago had a site license for Office 2003 and that license is still valid). I have a good working knowledge of Excel thus it gets used for many non-mathematical things. Remember that you can sort on one or more columns and tie all the columns together so that a sort by first name also keeps last name and location in the right place. There are free equivalents (Open Office) and several relatively inexpensive equivalent packages - SoftMaker Office is about $50US and they put it on sale for $30 several times a year www.softmaker.com/en/softmaker-officeKeep at it - we're expecting more good words from you ;-)

If you are going to re-edit, could you do one thing for a sad member of the Professional Organization of English Majors?
Please change 'Lead on, MacDuff' to 'Lay on, MacDuff' as the Bard wrote it in ?
An enjoyable story, regardless.
Thanks!
Mike

Bruce,
Thank you for the wonderful stories. I read both of the Welderman stories and the Lariat Advance story before reading this one. I have greatly enjoyed all of them. I discovered this board just over a month ago. This first thing I did was read the Jerry D Young stories. Thank you for those you posted here.
I will likely start on the Fleataxi stories soon.
Again, thank you.
