Hi All,
I've been a lurker-reader for awhile now, but thought I'd start the New Year by going legit and registering. :-)
I've been a fan of PAW fiction long before I even knew there was such a thing. H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds, as a childhood favorite example. Over the more recent past, I had read "the classics" in the genre, such as Alas, Babylon, One Second After, Lights Out and Patriots (by JWR). I've also read tons others. Some, like Jerry Young's, have been great reading. Some, which were 'free' on Amazon, were clearly worth every penny.
After all that reading, I came to the cliche conclusion that maybe I could write one too! (I can feel a collective weary sigh in The Force at having said so.) Undeterred by better judgment, I wrote. In wanting my story to not be just-like so many others, I made a conscious effort to do things a little differently. Of course, I wanted to avoid some of the common pitfalls: infinite ammunition, heroes with all-knowledge, bad-guys who can't hit a barn if they're inside it, etc.
Then too, I chose to not employ the omniscient narrator, nor to delve into fine detail about firearms, tactical gear and military-esque maneuvers. I have some concern that this latter design decision may 'break' my story for a sizable audience.
So, all that said, I just thought I'd introduce myself and see if there was any interest in trying a story that tried to be different.
Thanks for all the good reading thus far!
-- Mic

Good stories are always welcome - a different point of view could make the tale more interesting.
I've been here a little over a year and can almost guarantee that you'll get feedback - whether positive or negative will depend on the story ;-)

Hi Papaof2, Thanks for the welcome. I would certainly appreciate some constructive criticism of the story. Speaking of which, is the "Stories as they are being written" forum the place to post installments?

Yes. Start a thread in 'as they're written' with your first chapter, then just keep replying to the thread.
Hopefully, you'll have many postings ;-)
