so my garden is pretty much not doing anything cause of the heat. I've literally gotten five regular tomatoes and three cherry. NO cucs or squash.... I think they all went male on me! lot's of blooms no fruit!!!
and all my green beans and peas: nada!
and one itty bitty green pepper.
although there are two more cherry tomatoes forming and one green pepper. oh yeah, btw, the green pepper is from a THREE YEAR OLD plant I drag in every fall.
but that is it. beside the herbs, those are doing fine.
seems cheaper for me to go to the farmers market for my veggies and just plant herbs..... sigh

Think the heat pretty much did mine in also, most of my tomatoes are looking fairly good just small, nada on the squash and bell peppers but hot peppers are doing good, cucs that I have planted where they haave shade or doing good others nothing, beans and such just totally gave up, maybe will be able to get some fall green and such to make.

We have been really blessed with a lot of rain this year - almost every night, it seems like. I need to harvest broccoli tomorrow - it's sneaking up on me. When my tomatoes get ripe, I'm gonna be canning like a crazy woman.

We got a few yellow crookneck and a very few tomatoes out of our little raised beds. The arugula on the other hand is going gang busters.
We have watered often and slowly but it's a lost cause this year.

Summer gardening in Texas is pretty much 'keep watering so it'll live til the weather cools off again' Got a decent spring crop and pulling about 2 watermelons a week right now, but I need to getthe seeds started indoors for fall this week for my cool weather crops.

Just put in a few fall plants I had in a hot bed. Already have blooms on most. Been watering between mostly ample rains. We have gone to raised beds and get plenty. They are about ten feet from the end of our home. We have four 4'X12' and have timbers ready to add two more. One is a dedicated strawberry bed and we got about 5 gals. put up from them this spring plus eating lots of fresh ones. Will disc up the green/turnip/collard patch next week so we can put it in about Labor Day. May hill up next year's sweet potato bed and cover it in black plastic for the winter. That way I can be lazy then.

Here in San Diego just started tomatoes in five gallon buckets (5each) fed out of a Alaska style resevoir, but it is hot this month. The ones in the raised bed did good but they are over now.

Well in south Texas most everything but nopales and peppers have burned up, been a brutal summer. The prickly pear cactus tunas are ripening so prickly pear jelly is on the horizon. Have some mustard spinach still coming on. Fall garden is coming together and we'll be putting in some cool weather crops over the next 6 weeks.

I got a number of cherry tomatoes this year, but only 3 regular tomatoes (off of 6 plants) hopefully now that the weather is starting to cool off (no more 100's) they might start producing.Watermelons still need a couple months, not sure they're going to make it until they ripen.
