Jim stood there staring at his parents as they started swearing at him and calling him “good for nothing” and his mom said she regretted giving birth to a loser like him. Ana told her to shut her mouth about her husband. His mom looked at Ana as she asked if he was shacking up with an immigrant prostitute now. Jim reacted and got in her face so close that his mom fell backwards, telling her that no one disrespects his wife. His mom was cussing as she got back on her feet and his dad asked how he dared to yell at his mom. Jim glared at him and said they were the ones that came out here, shooting at him and trying to kill him for money. Jim was looking at his parents, they had the pock marked face that never healed correctly. His mom spat on him and said he needed to let them kill him right now to collect the money and maybe they would let his harlot live and leave the area.
Jim had ended up standing between his parents when he had yelled at his mom for insulting his wife. They were each about 5 feet away from him on either side. They were going on about how anyone with a brain cell knew that Lucifer and Gaia were the gods. Jim told them there was only one God and that was the LORD God Almighty in Heaven. Screaming, they both drew small pistols they had been hiding under their shirts. Ana tried bringing up her AR15 to stop them but wasn't fast enough. His parents shot and Jim could feel the burn of bullets creasing his skin as he dived out of the way. The bullets continued on their way. From the ground Jim saw the surprised look on his dad and mom's faces as they realized they had shot each other with Jim no longer in the way between them. The pistols dropped from their lifeless hands as their dead bodies hit the ground.
Ana kept them covered with her rifle as Jim checked them. He kicked the handguns away and felt for pulses, there were none. Jim shook his head no, then walked over and gave his wife a hug. She drew her hand back to see some blood on it. She told him he was hit, they needed to get to the house so she could tend to him. Inside the home, she had him take off his shirt revealing a bullet crease on his left upper arm about ¼ inch deep. Another bullet had left a trail alongside his rib cage. Neither one looked serious but were leaking blood. Ana cleaned them both and then applied bandages. She insisted upon him stripping so she could see if there were any more wounds. There were no other wounds.
Jim got dressed and said he needed to bury the trash out in the field. Ana asked if he wanted help and he said no, they hadn't been his parents in a long time and he was just going to dig a hole, put them in and cover them up. He was just happy that neither him or her had to shoot them. It worked out with them killing each other. He used the tractor and dug a hole. He just dumped them in, not bothering to make it a proper burial. Their bodies were a jumbled mess in the bottom of the hole as he used the tractor to push the dirt back in.
As fall approached, Ana's belly was getting bigger. Jim thought she looked more beautiful every day. She loved how every time he hugged her, his hand would also rest on her belly, caressing the baby. At night he would talk to the baby she was carrying and the baby would kick when it heard his voice. Ana basked in the love of her husband. He rubbed her sore back and massaged her tired feet. He pampered her with special food treats throughout the day. She was constantly thanking God for giving her such a wonderful man. Late January came and she was standing at the stove getting warm, she felt a strong contraction and then her water broke. Jim heard her grasp of surprise and turned to look at her, seeing her clasping her belly and a puddle of water at her feet.
Jim got her into their bed after getting her clothes off. He added wood to the stove to make the room warmer and to get some water heating up. He got the birthing book and placed it nearby in case he needed to double check anything. The delivery was progressing nicely. Soon Ana was giving birth. He was helping her and encouraging her and then he saw the head coming out. One last push and he was holding his son in his hands. He cut the cord, washed him and placed him on Ana's chest. He watched them for about 5 minutes when she had another contraction. He told her according to the book, that was the afterbirth coming out. He prepared to catch it. She gave another push and it wasn't afterbirth he caught in his hands, it was a baby girl. In amazement he cleaned up his daughter and laid her along side of her brother on Ana's chest.

Sorry, no update yet.
Calling for 80F+ starting Sunday and I am mowing grass and rototillering garden 1 inch deep to get rid of weeds and start prepping it for the growing season.
Lord willing I will have a good growing season and good harvest this year. I had frost on Mon, Tues, Wed My fruit trees are in blossom and I'm dreading a heavy freeze which would kill the fruit blossoms like has happened the past 4 years.

iamnobody I have found that pear trees and apple trees bloom last. This year I have some young pears that survived the frost and quite a few tart apples.
I have recently learned that pears. like peaches, can be dipped in boiling water and then the skins will slide right off.
I have not yet tried it but it is exciting news as I like to preserve the pears for the winter. My family seriously likes the pears that I dehydrate. I personally prefer to have frozen pears and frozen apples mixed together in a dessert

My children will eat the assorted fruits and jerky as fast as I can dry them. And they like that better than candy or cake, so it is a win - win situation.

Jim was a very happy husband and dad. Not 1 but 2 babies was a pleasant surprise. Ana was surprised at twins, she never suspected it during her pregnancy. He was taking care of her, cooking her favorite foods and helping with the children. It was 7 days before he left her start doing some work around the house. At least the twins were sleeping well during the night, only waking to be fed and diapers changed.
He was doing the heavy work outside and she was doing the lighter tasks. He thought they had settled in great at being parents. Crops were coming in and being preserved. One day he observed a figure walking down the lane towards them. He had his AR15 ready and he was standing behind a woodpile and Ana took the twins inside and she was in the doorway with her AR15.
It was a man of Mexican descent carrying a single barrel shotgun. When the man was 50 yards away, Jim told him that was close enough, state his business, all the while looking around to see if there was someone else with the man. The man said he was looking for a woman named Ana, did she live here. Inside the home, Ana was looking at the pock faced man and recognized the voice. Ana stepped out on the porch holding her rifle. The man said “hola ana, porque saludas a tu prima con una pistola.” (Hi Ana, why are you greeting your cousin with a gun.)

¿Qué estás haciendo aquí? ¿Cómo me encontraste? (What are you doing here? How did you find me?)
No fue fácil, fue un viaje duro buscando migajas sobre ti. Entonces finalmente escuché rumores de una mujer mexicana ayudando a un hombre en el mercado de agricultores y eso me trajo hasta aquí. (It wasn't easy, it was a hard trip searching for crumbs about you. Then I finally heard rumors of a Mexican woman helping a man at the farmer's market and that led me here.)
¿Por qué estás aquí? ¿Y qué quieres? (Why are you here? And what do you want?)
Necesito un lugar donde quedarme y además tu hombre Juan te está buscando. Dice que ahora está listo para establecerse solo contigo. (I need a place to stay and also your man Juan is looking for you. He says he is ready to settle down with only you now.)
Juan no es mi hombre, me dejó por otras mujeres. Y ahora estoy casado y tengo hijos. (Juan is not my man, he left me for other women. And I am married with children now.)
(You are married to this stinking gringo and have biracial children with him? Juan won't like that. He will kill this gringo and his stinking children. Give me a place to stay or I will tell Juan. And tell this gringo that you already have a man and all the things you used to do with Juan.)
Jim had been watching the exchange between the man and Ana. It seemed like a heated exchange. Then he saw Ana's face turn pale.He saw her pulling up her AR15 and the man was raising his shotgun. Jim was a little faster and his rifle roared first, catching the man in the chest, causing him to stumble and his shot was off. Ana's round also hit his chest and the man was dead before he hit the ground. Jim kicked the shotgun away and checked to ensure the man was dead. Then he turned to see Ana with some blood on her. He quickly checked her, finding out it was some stray birdshot that had hit her. The empty round in the man's shotgun revealed it was #9 shot.
Jim told her "Limpiaré tus heridas y luego enterraré a este hombre". (I will clean your wounds, then bury this man.) Ana said “si” and then her face went pale again as she realized Jim understood and spoke spanish.

Taking a deep breath, Ana said the man had been her cousin, actually a 2nd cousin. He had always been a problem to the whole extended family. There had been rumors that he was involved with a well known Mexican gang, not an actual member but doing jobs for them. After he had became an adult, he did jail time twice. Then she got quiet.
Jim asked her about Juan and she started crying, saying for him not to make her talk about him, Jim would be angry with her. She was hoping her crying would get him to stop with the questions he was asking because the answers would make him mad at her. But Jim just sat there looking at her, waiting on answers and not comforting her because of her crying. He was familiar with the quote from Socrates (400BC) who said “Trust not a woman when she weeps, for it is her nature to weep when she wants her will.” Women haven't changed and they had another 2,400 years to perfect their weeping. After a few minutes he said again in a firm voice “tell me.”
Ana stopped her crying and faced him. Then she started talking, knowing she had lied to him by omission about parts of her life and she would be losing the trust he had given her.
