Clint asked them to show him their warrant for trespassing on his property and for their arrest. The FEMA police told him warrants were no longer needed for anything. He told them they were still trespassing on his property. They said that citizens no longer owned anything and were happy they owned nothing.
Clint laughed at them and said he did not agree with any of the WGF's policies and what was his, was still his. He would be seeing them in court and let a jury decide. And they would be hearing from his legal counsel. The FEMA police said there were no longer any courts, lawyers or juries. That a WGF official decided things.
Clint looked at Leah and said there was then only 1 thing left for them to do. They raised their rifles and told the FEMA police to raise their hands and keep away from their pistols. They said no one could get away with killing them, they would be found and get the death penalty. He said he wasn't going to kill them, they were going to die in a road accident. Using the butt of his rifle, he hit each one on the forehead, knocking them out.
He told Leah they would load them in the Hummer, drive them to a steep dropoff and make it look like they lost control and went off the cliff. He didn't want to keep any thing from the FEMA police, it may have GPS tracking devices in them.

Since I can see again, today was working in the garden. I am way behind and playing "catch up." so not a big segment.
Leah brought the long sleeved chemical gloves he had asked for, so that he left no traces of his fingerprints as he handled the 2 FEMA police and drove the Hummer. The steep dropoff, actually a cliff, was about 30 miles away. The road made a sharp turn there and the guide rails were rotted.
Getting there, he put both unconscious police in the front seat, put the gear in neutral and headed the Hummer towards the edge. He watched it roll through the guide rail and it tumbled down the cliff, rolling over and over til it came to a tangled heap at the bottom.
He had debated about taking some of the things from the police and the Hummer but was worried about any GPS trackers that may be in the equipment. The WGF was controlling and would most likely track everything. He had worried that the FEMA police may had radioed in about him and Leah but from the looks of “loot” in the back seat, they had appeared to of been stopping at houses and looting. It just happened that his place had been occupied.
He started the long walk home, trying to stay off the road but paralleling it. He had told Leah it could take 2 days for him to make it home. For her to be on watch and be careful.

It did take him 2 days to make it home, arriving at evening to a happy Leah. It would have been easier to of shot the 2 FEMA police and buried the bodies but then a search would have been made and maybe alerted the WGF that there was people in the area. This way when they were found, it would look like they had died in an accident and hopefully no further investigation. On the way home he had circled all homes and buildings in case there might be people in them. He had seen no sign of people but better to be safe than sorry.
Clint and Leah talked about what had happened and how they could be better prepared in the future. He had read about the government going rogue in most of the PAW stories on the prepper forums but never thought he would see it with his own eyes.
The US government had known about the asteroid coming, hid themselves in underground bunkers paid for by taxpayers money and didn't even warn the people that it was coming. Then to come out of the bunkers later and try to enslave the people that had lived through the die off. At least the disease from the asteroid must of died off for the government people to not be affected now that they are outside the bunkers.

Sorry about the slowness of posting. I'm expanding my garden. I have a feeling that I will need the food I can grow.
Clint and Leah continued working their garden and preserving the food. He had some canning supplies and had found more at the older neighbor's place. They had a compost pile going with leftover garden plants, leaves from the forest and the bedding from his livestock. When fall arrived and the garden was done, they spread the compost on the garden and kept adding more leaves to the garden. It would finish decomposing over the winter.
Leah had to constantly adjust her clothes due to losing weight. She took to wearing a wrap around skirt. She was much happier now and good food was her diet. No more sitting around all day, feeling sorry for herself. She knew Clint loved her for herself and that gave her great joy. He had lost some weight but had more muscles from the daily manual work. When his ex-girlfriend had left, he was really down. But her leaving had turned out to be the best thing that had happened to him. Leah was a fantastic woman. They weren't trying to prevent babies and were trying almost every day, but so far no children.
They had seen no other people since the FEMA police. They kept their eyes open, watching for anyone. The police had shown that the government was NOT here to do you good. They kept their guns near them at all times and a Go Bag handy in case they had to leave in a hurry. Clint had even made a few caches with supplies that would be available to them if needed.
Winter was a normal one, not too cold and not a lot of snow. He was glad for that, they wouldn't be letting a lot of visible tracks in the snow. They managed to shoot 4 deer. They canned some of the meat and made jerky of the rest, nothing went to waste. There was no more of refusing to eat anything but the choicest cuts of meat.

Come spring they were back in their garden. Since it was fenced in, they turned the pigs in to root around. That would help loosen the ground and add fertilizer. 2 adult hogs and a litter of young piglets can turn the compost into gold for the garden in a short time. Weeds disappeared and it would be easier for Clint and Leah to spade the garden. No more rototillering , it was shovels and muscles.
Taking a break, leaning on their shovels to rest, they heard a roar and then 2 low flying jets went zipping by. Low enough that both of them went into a crouch in reaction. The jet in the rear was shooting at the 1st plane with mini-guns. Spent cartridge casings raining down on Clint and Leah.

As the jets went out of sight over the mountain, Clint and Leah looked at each other in amazement. Then they heard a muffled boom in the distance where the jets had went. They saw a faint plume of smoke on the back side of the mountain. Clint wondered if 1 of the jets had went down. 2 jets, 1 shooting at the other, who was the good guy and the bad guy. Or were both of them bad guys that would be a danger to him and his wife.
He got his wife and they went inside their cabin. He thought the wisest, safest thing to do was stay inside and be watchful for a few days. Inside they verified their weapons, ammo and Go Bags in case they were needed but hoping it wasn't.

On the 4th day after the jets, they ventured out again to do chores. He had been going out at dusk for a quick check for eggs and then back into the cabin. The garden was doing good, the pigs were in fine shape and now over to the chicken coop. As Leah reached for the coop door, Clint stopped her. He had spotted blood splotches on the ground and some on the door jam.
Easing back, he motioned for Leah to cover him as he opened the door from the side. With his rifle tracking ahead of him, he entered the coop. He would of yelled “freeze” to the man inside but the man was slumped with his back against the nest boxes with egg smeared on his lips and another grasped in his hands. Clint could see blood smeared down the man's leg and arm. The man barely groaned when the coop door had banged into the wall.

The coop was small enough that Clint could see there was no one else in there. He went back outside and told Leah what he had found, then searched the ground for tracks of any other person while she remained on lookout. He widened his search out to the wood line but found nothing.
Going back inside the coop, he quickly did a search of the wounded man, then dragged the man out as easy as he could while Leah still covered the man with her rifle. Looking at the wounds, Clint saw it was shrapnel wounds in the arm and leg. The man had passed out from the pain when Clint had dragged him outside. He started coming to and his eyes finally focused on Clint. The man tried pulling back and groaned in pain.
Clint told him to take it easy, he wanted to take a closer look at his wounds and ask him some questions. It turned out the man was the pilot of the 1st jet and was shot down. The pilot said he was WGF Air Force and a rebel force of Free America had been chasing him. The pilot looked at Clint and Leah and asked them why they were out here. Did they have a WGF permit to be out here. Clint, with a fake concerned look, ask if the pilot knew where the Free America forces were – somewhere at the edge of the Appalachia and the beginning of the mid west.
The pilot asked how bad were his wounds and when could they get him back to the WTG. Standing up, Clint told the pilot the wounds were deadly. Then shot the pilot between the eyes.

Clint and Leah loaded up the pilot's body on a litter and slowly carried it several miles away and disposed of the pilot in a rocky hole and then tossed a bunch of rocks on top of the body. Maybe the buzzards wouldn't be able to spot the dead body. Clint knew there were blood stains all over his place and he would attempt to remove as many as possible but knew that if WGF came around looking for the pilot, they would be in trouble anyway for not obeying the rules.
Back home they both were sore and tired from getting rid of the pilot. They talked about the info on the Free America, whether to go looking for them or stay here. In the end they decided to stay and continue their farming and be watchful. Only a few people left alive after the asteroid and the WGF still wanted to be bullies and control everyone and everything.

They continued working their place, not seeing any more aircraft or signs of people. Their situation awareness was up, knowing that just because few people survived, didn't mean people weren't still evil. The sin nature of people was still very much in effect. People would always do evil. To Clint's way of thinking, it seemed that even if only 10 people were left alive in the world, several of them would still want to control and abuse the others.
2 months later, Clint was out hunting, sitting in a blind waiting for a deer. His hunt turned deadly serious as he watched a squad of 5 men easing down the hollow. They were dressed in uniform, carrying M4s.

Clint's mind was in overdrive. Who are they? What did they want? Did they have evil intentions? They weren't very woods savvy, they were making a lot of noise compared to someone who knew how to move through the woods. But they seemed to be headed towards his place and Leah. Could he go a roundabout way and get there ahead of them. Or try to get close enough to hear what their intentions were. All he had was the bolt action rifle he had found at the neighbor's place and 15 rounds of ammo for it. He had 4 rounds in the rifle and 11 rounds in a box in his backpack.
He opted to get nearer if he could. The green leaves were still on the trees and there was a good bit of small brush everywhere. He eased up near them as they got close to his place.
