I ordered an item on Ebay and the vendor listed May 1, then Apr 30, then Apr 29 as the delivery date. When I got the USPS tracking number, their site said Apr 29 - but we know that their promises are often so much politicians' foaming at the mouth...
When the truck hadn't arrived at the Atlanta Regional Distribution Center by 9PM on Apr 28, the web tracking stayed with Apr 29 but included "Will be late. Delayed in transit." We're now past 9PM on Apr 29 and they've taken the Apr 29 delivery date off the tracking page and just have "In Transit, Arriving Late". I don't expect better than 24 hour service (typically 36 - 48 hours) from the Distribution Center to me, living out here at The End Of The Road in Hog Wallow, GA.
Maybe the vendor should have stayed with his original May 1 delivery date?
The driving time from the originating facility in IL to Atlanta is just over 11 hours. The facility there had the package at noon on Apr 26. Midnight Apr 27 is certainly enough time to get the package loaded on a truck and the truck headed south. It would then have been in the area on Apr 28 and delivered on Apr 29 - as their tracking page promised.
I know, I'm expecting there to be competent and responsible people in the delivery chain...

Gipsy, we do that frequently when our regular mailman (yes, a man, named Tim, about 50, thinking about retiring as soon as he can) isn't delivering our mail.

There's a screnn capture here: jecarter.us/files/usps-tracking.jpgHow can the package be "in transit to the next facility" if they haven't done a departure scan at the originating facility?

The package arrived today - no changes on the USPS tracking page except "Delivered". No info on when it got to the metro Distribution Center, just that it got to the local USPS office this morning and immediately went on the delivery vehicle.
Tracking that basically says "accepted" on day X and "delivered" on day X+5 really isn't very good tracking...

This one isn't the fault of USPS - yet?
Parcel from China, goes through Customs in NJ and then to USPS in NY.
Note the date/time of the top two (most recent) entries as their page displays in reverse chronlogical order. I knew things were bad in NJ/NY but not that they were hitching people to the trailers and having them walk the packages from NJ to NY :-(
