I'd like to make a withdrawal story

I couldn't tell you the last time I read a story on Survivalist Boards, but it's been quite a few years. The one I just finished is titled I'd like to make a withdrawal under the websites stories and movies section. Well written and believable. First one bank is taken down, then others. Later in the story, the internet and electrical grid goes down. Not forever though. Anyone remember the hell that was raised when the EBT cards didn't work a few years ago? And how many people are retired, getting their social security checks each month? NOT under this scenario. This story's going to remain as a seed in the back of my mind as a separate story. As it is, got a lot on my plate and one of my Conservative vs Liberals stories I was working on, has the grid going down for a few weeks. As to LARGE electrical transformers, they're CUSTOM made, so there's not a bunch of 'em just laying around on pallets waiting to be shipped somewhere.

Depending on the size and complexity, anything bigger than the multi-house transformers on poles or concrete pads (for underground wiring) can have a lead time of 3 months to a year or more. An RPG into your local substation could have you on rotating blackouts for quite a while.

Wasn't aware about the transformers until I read Ted Koppel's Lights Out book. You can get it free in a pdf format by doing a search for it. And of course NOTHING'S been done about the very real possible danger of computer hacking the electrical grid or blowing up the large power lines that are all over the west and in parts of Florida I'm familiar with. What strikes me as really funny was the aftermath after The China Syndrome came out, with massive protests by people saying NO NUKES, NO NUKES, with no new nuclear power plants being built/running in the last 20 to 30 years? But some how, people think, oh nothing bad will ever happen to the grid....the govt. will make sure of that.
