I posed this question in another forum I am on and thought I would toss it out here for consideration.
What if Biden were to drop dead in the next couple of days. What would happen?
A. Bernie immediately claims that he should be the candidate because of vote totals?
B. Bloomberg immediately offers to take over?
C. The democrats instantly go batcrap crazy trying to figure out who they can put in the ring?
Your thoughts?

Thanks for assuming I am capable of thinking. ;^) A. Don't forget Bernie has to pick the "correct" VP candidate. B. Actually, it wouldn't surprise me if it came out that Bloomie has already sounded out the Party powerful about him steppin' in any time between now and mid-September. C. Think of all the campaign money they could raise by stagin' a to-the-death match for all comers as pay-per-view.

Well, "C" has already happened so what they'd do if Biden wasn't there is probably whine their way through every talk show while hoping he'd revive ;-)

That being said I figured this question would provoke some interesting (maybe funny?) ideas and a civil discussion. I don't Cuomo (Or the Lesser Satan as he is called by a member of the other board who lives in NY) putting his name forward. I think he prefers where he is because I don't think NY has term limits.

We've kept the discussion civil so far but I reserve the right to call anybody an idiot, up to and includin' myself.

I don't know the answer and I'm not joking. If something would happen to Biden at this point to make him unfit for office, would Kamala Harris become the nominee?

I don't know the answer and I'm not joking. If something would happen to Biden at this point to make him unfit for office, would Kamala Harris become the nominee? That could be at the discretion of the DNC - which is, at best, questionable. If some Republican were forcing an older and mentally impaired family member to appear in public, the Dems and liberals would be shouting "Elder abuse!" but that obviously doesn't apply to them - just as a lot of other laws/rules seem not to apply to them. However, I think there's an old quote that applies: "All animals are equal but some are more equal than others." Remember the book? Remember whose line that was?

Regrettably, I have not yet read Animal Farm. As far as politicians go, it is my opinion that the best way to tell a Democrat from a Republican is to see if they have a D or R before their name. That only applies to politicians though. Politicians are only interested in power, regardless of party affiliation.

Politicians are common; statesmen are rare.

Far too rare. I didn't care for him, but President Obama sometimes showed glimmers of statesmanship. Whether those instances were genuine, I cannot say.

KH might seem like a logical choice if Mr. Biden goes down, but what of the followers of Bernie, who still feel he's been robbed the last two election cycles? Will they go peacefully? Warren might feel she's entitled since she stuck in the race longer than Harris. And don't forget the former Senator, First Lady and SecState Mrs. Slick Willy.

Kamala Harris let the truth slip over the weekend. she started to answer a question with this line; "The Harris administration" and then hurriedly added "With President Joe Biden" Apparently Biden also knows how things will go because during an interview this morning he also referred to the "Harris-Biden Administration. Best pay attention folks and make sure everybody who can LEGALLY doe so gets out and votes.

My former hometown now has a dead man running for city council. He's still on the ballot. Not sure if he has an opponent. Big question is, if his corpse wins (and it probably will), do they wait until the swearing-in and declare the seat open since he didn't respond and take the oath of office, or will they award it to the LIVING candidate with the highest number of votes?
I observed to a friend of mine who still lives in that formerly idyllic shithole that he's probably got the most logical and believable of supporters, since a good number of dead people voted for him, and they should be represented too! At least he stays in the same neighborhood as his supporters.

bump
If Orange-Man-Bad wins the election, and they yell for a recount,
And a recount,
And a recount,
till 1/21 Swearing In Day, and no clear (CLEAR) winner, does it go to Speaker of the House?
