It seems some French research has seen complications with Covid-19 when people take NDAIDS (aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen sodium, etc) for fever. Here's one British doctor's opinion on that: youtu.be/EuWo5lmWuZIIf you're looking to manage a fever, here's a nurse's opinion on herbal and pharmaceutical methods: www.youtube.com/watch?v=gzeu8Km4RFYAs Dr. Campbell says "I'm not your doctor" so these are for your information. Make the best use of them.

Some people are staying in more.
Our church live streams the Sunday morning service on Youtube (been doing that for a while). 3 Sundays ago, there were 72 views. 2 Sundays ago, there were 73. This past Sunday, there were 173.
I think some people are getting it.
Monday, the church sent email and updated the web site to notify members that they have stopped ALL on-site activities and the Sunday morning service will be live streamed ONLY, using a group of perhaps 20 people including the music ministry and the A/V team (still need bodies to operate cameras and handle audio).
My wife called one of the older members today to notify her of the "Nothing on site" policy and the woman was complaining that her kids and grandkids had her "imprisoned" in her house - anything she wanted they would get for her. She did say she was going to the pharmacy drive-thru tomorrow to get her meds ;-) I'm certain there are some people who would like to have "prison keepers" who cared that much and made themselves that available.

More scary numbers - infection projections through 31 March. S you look at his numbers, be aware that the non-China infection count on the Johns Hopkins site are 116,000+ as I post this - and the day's not yet over - so the projections appear to be close. www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5gdwOm7dxA

Know someone with heart problems? From the director of a heart research institution in Australia: www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqeNIlqbvu4He also mentions that some high percentage of the population may be infected mildly, which I don't think we've heard from many sources. One tip from the video - put down the lid before you flush! If you saw any episodes of "Duck Quacks Don't Echo" you might have seen the one where they used a high speed camera to catch the out-spray from a typical toilet flush - potentially up to 6 feet away.

I went to the polls yesterday and voted. Mask gloves and wipes in hand. Then I did my tags for the next year over the phone. Typical govt. computer. Took way to long and cost an extra 2.75 four times for the four tags. Avoided the DMV ( cesspool of people all coughing I am sure).

I exited alone and there were three people coming in as I exited: one to drop off papers for Probate Court and a couple coming to pick up a marriage license. Compared to the usual bustle there, the place was dead.

We may be making a Costco run for some OTC meds in a day or two. The ones I ordered a week ago were cancelled today (that's an eternity in e-buying), Might try Walgreen's first as they're much closer if almost twice the price...

Braved the grocery store today. Some shortages and limits but not too bad. Today was the first day I didn't go into a store (grocery, Target, or 99 cent). Traffic in Fresno was easily 30-50% lower on a couple of major streets anyway. Yesterday I went to a local chain (Save Mart) and a 99 Cent Only store. The 99 had more canned goods than the Save Mark. Milk and eggs were near zero at both. Cereals, chips, sodas and candy were pretty full at both. I think the "Stay Home" orders by City of Fresno and the State of California did more harm than good. The panic buying was slowing down but it's picking up again. Most groceries and big stores (Target, Costco, Walmart, etc) have reduced their hours and established 'priority' buying hour(s) for seniors and disabled. Not sure what they'll be able to buy...

Things here have definitely reduced the traffic. We ordered takeout for supper and the wife asked "Twenty minutes to get there?" I said "Maybe ten" so that was when we left - and they were collecting the sides as we got in the inside line for pickup eleven minutes after we left the house. This was at 6:30PM on a Friday evening when traffic should be bad and the steakhouse parking lot filled and it simply wasn't. Possibly six of 30 tables being used for eat-in - one in each of the sections with half walls - and one guy at the bar. Not much business for Friday evening except for the continuous 3 to 5 people in the food pickup line.
The stupid drivers (and passengers) are still out - vehicle in the through lane decided to turn left at the last minute and squeezed in on my back bumper as they got to the intersection - the guy in the back seat with his feet out the window was slid across the car as they turned left - never a cop when you want one as I expect they'd have found more than a seat belt violation in that car.

Just got back from Cosco. Gas under 2, Out of Vit C and rice, but they had everything else I needed. The crowd really wasn't. Seemed like a normal shopping day.

Right now, grocery store gas (Kroger) is $1.81, Costco is $1.49. Been a while since we saw that.
We do have some "wants" (orange marmalade for the bagels in the freezer) but only one "need" - the benadryl-equivalent anti-histamine because today's pollen count is 1883 (higher than yesterday's 1668) and it's likely to get even higher (local allergy clinic posts counts Mom-Fri all year but also on weekends during "yellow car" season). Pine pollen isn't considered an allergen but it is a mechanical irritant the same as having a handful of dust or flour blown in your face and neither of our bodies takes kindly to that irritation :-( Won't be out today but Publix (grocery chain in the Southeast) and Target have "senior hours" (Publix on Tues and Wed, Target on Wed) so probably out then to shop. Maybe I can stand eating bagels with blackberry preserves for a couple more days ;-)
We do have chocolate put back (M&Ms Dark, 2 family size bags), some Ghirardelli brownie mix and maybe some chocolate pudding. Have flour, cornmeal, powdered milk, baking soda and salt so can we always bake some bread (even have the Coleman camp stove oven). I need a few more bricks to finish my rocket stove and we could cook/bake on it with a large pot or the camp oven (adding bricks to my next-trip-out list). The rocket stove will be topped with a grate from a gas cooktop so there's a place for the fire to get out and there's serious support for whatever cooking pot/pan you use. We could even do popcorn using the stovetop popper with the crank in the handle.
Still getting the kinks out of the potable RV hoses to be able to run them up the stairs from a water barrel in the basement. There is a chase with assorted plumbing, wiring and HVAC but it's not in the right place to add a faucet :-(
All things considered, we're doing OK. Did hear from one of our kids in Virginia, one who's been a long-term liberal but was telling me that they're now keeping both vehicles at a minimum of half a tank of gas. The Wegman's grocery has limits of ONE on almost everything - one can of vegetables, one can of fruit, etc, so grocery shopping is now a "couple" event (you take this copy of the list and I'll take the other one) so they can buy enough to actually fix meals (especially with two teenagers in the house) - a week or so ago the limit was TWO of almost everything. They're expecting a quarantine order there in the near future because it's happening in states not that far away (NY). Not sure why they're going into hysteria with 125 cases in Virginia versus the 507 in Georgia but maybe that's just the way those fragile liberal minds work. Think maybe I'll stay in my semi-intelligent redneck state in the South ;-)
